We have some nice pieces to build off of for next season... I wish we did not f**king trade Cargo to Coors... he is mashing over there... but 1-2-3 rotation for next season looks pretty sexy

Anderson-Cahill-Gio-Braden?-???

Barton is improving, Sweeney is playing really well and if Kurt was healthy he would probably have the best numbers for a catcher in baseball...

Kouz is solid hopefully he sticks around for the next couple of years because i believe his bat is truly underrated.

Mark Ellis is money. I have a weird feeling that he'll be one of our casualties at the trading deadline.

Braden was scratched this morning. Sent to the 15 day DL. We kinda saw that coming. Clayton Mortensen got the call tonight. He didn't show much last season. Hopefully, his 2nd and 3rd pitches are more refined. He's given up 3 ER in 3 2/3 innings so far 2nite

Ok, Geren! You can take Kouz outta the 3 hole now. He hasn't hotten a hit in almost a week. Give the dude a day off.

woohoo hes a 3rd baseman "phenom"

Nice road trip, went 4-2 and really a much needed 9 game stretch against the three worst teams in baseball in PIT, BAL, and CLE going 7-2 in that stretch. A's easily could've swept this entire 9 game set if they could only get a key hit SAT against CLE and I don't know how the heck they blew a three run lead against BAL in the 7th, well maybe I can with the pen being in shambles with only Bailey and Breslow being the reliable ones.

Mort had a nice debut, looked pretty bad that first inning when he couldn't put away that first batter who later got a hit and then the two run HR but he settled down pretty quick. Now it's against CLE but they've been a pretty hot team last week, before the A's won on FRI, they had a 5 game win streak.

Mazz is really pitching well, who knew????? I certainly didn't see this coming especially after that disastrous outing he had at BOS where he came in when Anderson went down early and just got torn up giving up 10 base runners in 3.1 IP yet still got the win.

If Mort and Mazz can be even a solid back end of the rotation, having a front end for the foreseeable future of...

...would look pretty good. Regarding Braden? I don't know if he'll able to stay healthy for a full season. This would be the third straight year, when he took over for Blanton after the 08 deadline where injuries have cut his season short.

Really don't know about trading him, don't know how much you'd get back but I don't know where his future is with this team. When healthy, he's shown he can be a decent #3 type in the rotation, problem is like with Duke, he can't stay healthy and again it's been three years now.

Kouz has really slowed down. He's like 0 for his last 30 and NOW Geren decides to put him at 3, not when he was one of the hottest hitters for the entire month, well up until hte last few days of June. Those A's guys in the FO must look at A's MB/blogs because most have pleaded to move Kouz up when he was hot, and the A's put him at 3 when he's slumping bad, his worst slump in his career...nice, like the A's purposely screwed us over by saying here, we put Kouz at 3 like you wanted and he's not hitting.

Congrats to Cahill, too bad about Suzuki, really had hoped this would be the year but he not only missed about 20 games worth but slumped bad recently. Even with the slump, I think had he played in those 20 or so games, maybe 15-17, he'd have #s equal or better than to Buck, the TOR C who made the team in almost every offensive category.

But glad the A's got a first timer out there and Cahill has certainly deserves it. Very few have pitched as well as Cahill has the past 7-8 outings with him winning 7 straight.


A's have a tough last week before the break, NYY and LAA, I'd take a split and be content right around .500 at the break.

IMO there's still a very little chance the A's seriously compete for the AL West. They just don't have the bats right now.

Very happy the A's signed a top notch international prospect too. A couple of pitchers but the main prize being this Nunez kid.

Nunez who the A's gave over 2 million and was considered the top VENZ stick is great news. Not only have the A's had an eye on him for a couple of years now, he's projected to play a position where the A's have had trouble for years, 3B ever since Chavez's injuries have ruined his career the past 3-4 seasons.

That's back to back years now the A's signed a highly thought of VENZ prospect, last year remember they signed Solano to a 7 figure bonus who also projects to be a 3B.

Although these guys probably won't be even near ready for another 4-5 years at least probably unless they are one of those specials one and arrive at 19 or 20 years old, something the A's haven't had since the trio of Grieve, Tejada, and Chavez all came up.

3B doesn't look like a black hole now. With Kouz being a solid option for at least thru 2012. A's now have some decent options at 3B in the minors.

Parker, an A's pick in 09 whos having a very good year at Stockton. He has a line of .298/.402/.495 with 25 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 10 HRs, 48 RBIs and 57 Ks/51 BBs so far. A's drafted him out of BYU as a 1B but he's been playing 3B at A+. Don't know if that's his long term position if he makes it but at least there is an option maybe a year or two away, maybe perfect timing if Parker is ready by mid-late 2012 and in Kouz's last year he's controlled by the A's contractually.

You got Cabrera, the A's 2nd round pick this season, still hasn't signed yet as hasn't the top five picks, HURRY UP and sign! But he's projected to be a 3B or OF. He's raw, 19 year old but has some serious tools, whether or not he can actually fulfill his potential is another question but yet again, maybe an option 2-3 years down the road.

A's look to capitalize on war of words
OAKLAND -- Oakland A's pitcher Dallas Braden says he is over his tiff with New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, but his team won't let it go.

In an effort to take advantage of the Braden-Rodriguez controversy that began when Braden objected to A-Rod running across the mound during an April 22 game here, the A's are selling T-shirts that say, "Get off my mound."

"It looks like the A's are making light of the situation," Braden was quoted saying in Monday's San Francisco Chronicle. "In some ways, it might keep what happened alive."

Braden, who is on the disabled list and will not pitch, says he doesn't plan on going after Rodriguez verbally or physically over the next three days. On the field, in April, Braden yelled, "Get the [expletive] off my mound" when A-Rod broke what Braden thought was an unwritten rule of returning to the dugout.

Rodriguez responded by saying he never heard of such a rule and dismissed Braden's criticism of his route to the dugout by claiming it was funny coming from a pitcher with "a handful of wins."

Later, Braden made reference to his hometown of Stockton, Calif., adding the two may have to settle things with their fists. Rodriguez tried to put out any controversy, saying he didn't want to extend Braden's "15 minutes of fame."

The words had barely escaped A-Rod's lips when the relatively unknown Braden pitched his perfect game on Mother's Day in early May. While Braden fired the perfecto, the Yankees were in Boston. After Braden's grandma told A-Rod to "stick it," Rodriguez responded by saying, "Uncle," and that he was done talking about Braden. Now, it appears, Braden might be too.

"I'm way over it," Braden was quoted in the Chronicle. "My 15-minute timer went off a little time ago."
