One of the most difficult parts of this draft is trying to figure out if you can wait one more round to pick who you want. I may have been able to wait to get this guy, but I'm gonna take him anyway.

Elmore Smith, C

As a very mobile, 7 foot, 250lb center, Smith's career was cut short at the age of 29 after a slew of injuries, but in his first 5 years he was an excellent rebounder and one of the best shot blockers the league has ever seen. They didn't keep track of swats in his first 2 years in the league, but in his 4th year he led the league with a whopping 4.9 per game. He was 2nd in the league in the following two years, and then the injuries hit and he was never the same, having to retire at the age of 29.

Fun Fact #1: He was the main piece that Milwaukee received from the Lakers in the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trade.

Fun Fact #2: He once blocked 17 shots in one game, a record that still stands today.

Fun Fact #3: He has his own line of BBQ sauce now.

Ninerjohn is on the clock.
17 blocks in a game??? Holy s**t!
With the many incredible point scorers on their team the Grizzles draft a man who not only could score but was also a tremendous defensive player and an enforcer on the court who would back down from no one.

He also made first team all NBA defense and 2nd team all NBA. He was the high scorer on his 1976 world championship team averaging over 20 pts and 11 rebounds per game.

With their pick in the 8th round the Memphis Grizzles select 5 time all star......MAURICE LUCAS

Lets go with another big man...

Alvan Adams please

Btw, am I the only one whose LITERALLY grabbin random names from outta a hat at this point? lol, I dont even know who Alvan Adams is, Im just typing in "big men in NBA in blank decade" and lookin at some names, lookin at their physique and lookin at their pictures, and if I think their cool (look at Alvan's hair and face on that man, he had to be a baller in his day) then their mine...

I cant be the only one doing this, right?

Adams was a pretty good player in the NBA. He did make 1 all star game but certainly was never a top star. I do think there were several guys more worthy of being taken at this spot but there have been many already taken that were worse.
