Chicago Bulls 2009-2010 Thread

Sorry for the delay. Here is my mid season report on the frontline.

Gibson-PF-Has been a nice surprise. He was known as good defender at USC where he won DPOY in the PAC-10 but his offensive game and rebounding was coming along better than I thought this year. He is still dealing with plantar fiascitus and the fact that he's a rookie might be wearing him down. He needs to stay consistent on defense and he will be fine.

Thomas-F- Tyrus is the X-factor for this team. If he wants to play or if you get him under control he can be a force both offensively and defensively. His immaturity holds him back and now he can be the subject of trade talk. I personally would like to see him on the team for good solid depth on the frontline.

Johnson-F- Shows glimpses of what he can do. He's actually a better shooter than what he gets credit for. His defense could use some work but he will come along. Needs to build some chemistry.

Deng-F-Probably the most consistent scorer we have. He is really paying off now that he's healthy. With the maybe the exception of Rose he could be our MVP. A reserve All Star snub IMO

Miller-F/C-He's definitely on the back end of his career. His defense is where his age hurts him but he can at least score to make up for it. I think this is his last year with us maybe in the league.

Noah-C-Boy have we missed this guy especially on defense rebounding. You just can't replace a 12 reb/game average with anyone. I hope Joakim is healthy enough for the second half because without him we might not make the playoffs.

Jones-F-Not a factor. Doesn't get any playing time.

I can't wait until we find out who the Bulls getting before Thursday's trading deadline. Right now, the Bulls are interested in trading for McGrady. McGrady will provide instant offense and his $22M expiring contract will help sign a big free agent.

We don't need McGrady. He's not the same player he was. Leave the team as is. Unloading players now for McGrady's contract will hurt our short term success.

I love when we smash the Knicks. Reminds me of the Jordan era.

I agree with you about McGrady's skills are declining, but we need his expiring contract. Honestly, we're not going deep in the playoffs this year. We need more cap space to sign free agents this summer. Players like Wade, LBJ, Bosh, Joe Johnson...are available. If we can get one of those guys to join the team...then I definitely can say we are contenders.

The New York Knicks are finalizing a deal to acquire Houston Rockets forward Tracy McGrady, an NBA source told SI.com.

The framework of the deal involves sending McGrady to New York for forward Jared Jeffries, guard Larry Hughes and forward Jordan Hill. The Knicks and Rockets have agreed to swap 2011 first round picks and the Knicks will send the Rockets their first round pick in 2012.

The only outstanding issues involve protection for the draft picks.

The deal could be completed as early as tomorrow.

Things are actually pretty busy with the Bulls today. First, John Salmons is now a Buck and Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander are now Bulls. Also, Tyrus Thomas looks like he is now a Bobcat while Acie Law and Flip Murray are now Bulls. We also get a future 1st round pick in that deal. Looking like we might also see Hinrich become a former Bull.

Really bummed about the Thomas trade, I think he'll help out the Bobcats alot, but he obviously fell out of favor with Del Negro. The addition of Warrick may help fill his role though. I guess the best thing about these moves is the cap relief, and there isn't too much of a dop-off in talent. If Murray can keep scoring the way he has been of late, it will only help. We'll see what happens in the next couple of hours.

Yeah I wanted to keep Tyrus but it's for the best. Have any of you noticed how much more athletic we are now with Warrick and Murray? Even w/o Noah or Thomas?

I think once everone get comfortable we will be even more dangerous. They look dangerous now. Any top team in the East better watch out for these young Bulls.

As you guys mentioned above about playing without Noah, this team has been pretty impressive especially the way Noah has been playing so its gonna be a huge boost now that he's getting healthy.

Not so fast my friends. Just when we thought Noah was healthy. We are all banged up. Besides struggling recently we now have to deal with Noah out for 3 weeks.

Damn the schedule is not looking any easier.

Can we get out of this funk? We're slipping slowly out of contention.
