I picked Duke this year because they are the best free throw shooting team, out of many of the top 1-2 seeds.

Only Kansas shoots better than 70% and they lost today.

I think free throw shooting in the tourny is so important because games get pro-longed like no other, because teams are going home if they lose. So they foul whoever's winning like crazy. That's why I picked BYU over Florida the other day, and that's exactly what they did. Hit free throws down the stretch. That's also why I picked UNI over Kansas and have them going to the Elite 8 and losing to OSU

Holy crap I never thought of it like that. I've just been looking at the most talented teams and athletic teams. Good thinking man, will keep an eye out for that next year.

Its not fool proof. I mean Utah St. and Villinova are both ranked high in free throw shooting. I also saw UNI as starting seniors, and only giving up 53 points per game on defense. That was a good sign they use up a lot of clock and play sound defense. As you saw they don't handle pressure well.

But other teams that have won that are in the top 26 in free throw shooting in the Nation: BYU (winning right now), St. Mary's (sweet 16), Duke, CAL, UNI, Butler and Marquette (one of the few Big East teams left).

If Butler beats 'Cuse free throws will have a lot to do with it.

Yeah. But when you had 2 good FT shooting teams going against eachother like Nova and St Marys, it's really not that much of a shock StM's won. They had a lot more size and more shooting. I was dumb enough to like Nova a lot but the one thing that worried me is they were a 4 guard offense basically and then Pena, and the last few years they've played with 3 or 4 guards out there. Samhan pretty much singlehandedly beat them. And I knew Cal was going to beat UL, I filled out 10 of those brackets on ESPN.com and I was stupid enough to pick UL in like 6 of them even though I knew that only one player on UL was good enough to start on Cal. Pac 10 isn't looking so weak anymore

Also, Kansas losing can't make me smile any more being a Mizzou fan..its like a Giants fan watching the Dodgers get knocked out of the playoffs.

Duke will beat them. They got size and speed to match up w them. More experience. They shoot much better from the stripe and have a coach that's won a few before
