It was pretty obvious this would happen considering his shoe is called "The Six"

He came up with some BS excuse about it being a tribute to Jordan.

yeah he said no one should be able to wear number 23

I guess he doesnt think that Bill Russell or Dr. J are worthy of that status since they both wore #6. Come on... no number should be sacred and retired except by the team a player played for.

They aren't. MJ made the game global. Without him, basketball wouldn't be as popular.

Magic and Bird made it global.

It's a testament to the MJ hype machine though that such myths are still perpetuated.

The guy was one of the best guards of all time...of that there is no real debate....but please list one thing he did to "make the game more global"?

I'd say guys like Kobe and to a lesser extent LeBron are doing a lot more to promote the game's international popularity than MJ ever did. A huge part of Kobe's marketing strategy is based on China, the Phillipines and Asia at large.

And, NO. MJ's number shouldn't be universally retired. There are plenty of guys who would also deserve that honor before him. Then what? Are there going to be 20 universally retired numbers?

3. Kobe Bryant won a title his way -- by establishing a Kobe and the Kobettes dynamic that actually worked -- becoming one of the ten best NBA players ever and proving he could prevail without Shaq. If that wasn't jarring enough, Shaq's exit from Phoenix marked the fourth time he left a team on bad terms, making everyone re-evaluate the whole "Was Kobe really the bad guy in the Shaqobe Divorce?" saga that had been buried years ago. Maybe Kobe wasn't as much to blame as we thought. Maybe Shaq was the problem. Maybe the hotel clerk lied about him. Maybe he took a ton of flak for no reason. Maybe he's … (gulp) … a good guy and a family man who works his butt off and never seems satisfied and kills himself to get better every summer and maybe … (gulp) … was greater than we thought. Damn it all.

Oh, I just want to rub this paragraph all of over my body. Oh God, I want to bathe in it. It feels soooooo good.

How do we know Vanessa didn't send him there to stick it in some chicks ass.

Conversation at the Bryant home:

Kobe "C'mon baby. Let me put it in your booty."

V "Hell no, Kobe. You know I don't like that. Go fck one of your roadtrip ho's in the butt. That's what they are for."

Vanessa "rape her"
