Turco? - His game has completely fallen off, and despite several playoff runs, only had one good post-season.

Theodore? - He had one good year in MTL and after that he has been average at best.

Toskala? - You really think he could be more than a backup?

Chris Mason? Dan Ellis? Leighton?

I don't really see how you could want any goalie on the market over Nabokov. Your only other chance is a trade, and clearly SJ isn't willing to make a big trade (since Halak went for relatively cheap).

We were interested in Halak, but we probably dont have the pieces or cap to have acquired him.

I'd honestly take Turco or Ellis. I think Turco could rebound with a change of scenery and different dmen.

But I wouldnt be surprised to see Griess get the nod

Nabby will want too much money and he hasnt shown the ability to make the big saves in the Playoffs.

You can argue that the lack of scoring has been the sharks main problem in the playoffs, but nabby lets in some soft ones

Eklund I know, but still

#8 Joe Pavelski.
He and Setoguchi were in discussions for Halak/Price. Pavelski was awesome in the first two rounds of the playoffs, and with Marleau possibly gone this summer (and Joe Thornton next summer) it is obvious Wilson will try to get this done before an offer sheet is filed.

This is just killer... Are we really going to give up our best young players? How can we even consider letting go of Pavelski?

It's weird, I can't help but feel so attached to our group of players. The only guys I could stomach letting go of are Mitchell, McGinn, Huskins, and Staubitz -- and even then -- Both Mitch and McGinn look like they have such bright futures I'm really reluctant to say I'd be okay with trading them.

Nabokov just needs to go -- I love the guy -- but Stalock and Griess need to compete now to see who'll be the future. But apparently we're giving him one last shot. One of the best goalies ever not to win a cup is what we've got...

spezza for jumbo + gooch

thank god

idk, its ekland though prolly not true

LMAO, trade arguably our BEST player with arguably our MOST promising young winger? Again, LMFAO. For Spezza? No. Sorry. No. Spezza and Heatley are not reuniting. That'd be a HORRIBLE trade. Bull crap. It's not true.

Edit: Okay, I read the thing -- and even with Volchenkov, I don't think we would make that trade. Guy spelled Setoguchi wrong.

WOW WOW WOW WOW is all i can say eklund is on crack. no way dw is even thinking this

We've got to keep that second line. They've been money in the playoffs.

Speculate on anything other than hockeybuzz.

Fine:

With veteran defenseman Rob Blake set to retire, the San Jose Sharks will be looking for a replacement on their blueline this summer.
The Edmonton Journal reports the Oilers are looking to trade rearguard Sheldon Souray and the Sharks could be among the teams interested.

Souray, who has a cap hit of $5.4 million per season over the next two years, has an actual salary of $4.5 million, which Oilers GM Steve Tambellini told the Journal makes Souray more attractive.

Souray is willing to waive his no-trade clause and prefers to stay on the West coast.

I think we went after him a couple years ago, but idk about his cap hit and if he can get back to his MTL level of playing

I don't know if I want Souray.. he hasn't been anything noteworthy, at least I don't think, lately. We need a real replacement. A great veteran presence or a very good promising young player who'll become great.
You want change

The Sharks have just shaken up their franchise and the NHL landscape

We just traded one of our young stars........

Goodbye:

Staubitz to Minny for a 5th

Not a bad deal. But, it'll be a while before we know how good of it deal it really is I suppose.

Staubie was a good tough guy, a good enforcer. But he racked up too many bad penalties. Just wasn't a disciplined player and didn't offer much else aside from his fighting skills.

He was well liked here though, and I'll never forget that Tootoo bashing. One of the most annoying players getting pummeled by our big man. Good times.

Best of luck with the Wild.
Just to update, here are the Sharks' UFAs and RFAs.

UFA:
Marleau
Nichol
Malhotra
Helminen
Ortmeyer
Ryan Vesce
Wallin
Joe Callahan
Nabokov

RFA:
Joe Pavelski - Must Keep
Devin Setoguchi - Must Keep
Brad Staubitz - Traded to Minnesota
Derek Joslin - Likely gone.
Andrew Desjardins - Likely gone.
Matt Jones - Likely gone.
Henrik Karlsson - Signed with KHL
Cameron MacIntyre - May still get a shot in the minors
Daniel Rahimi - Likely gone.
Steven Zalewski - Likely gone.

souray is injured prone and when hes on his best hes an offensive dman. i dont know if i want him making that much and i sure as hell dont wanna trade useful players for him. maybe yrs ago MAYBE i wouldnt have minded him. he could help qb the power play as well so we dont have to kill boyle

Yeah, I think we're actually pretty comfortable letting Demers develop into that role. He's a pretty good offensive dman for being so young, but on top of that he made a lot of big play on D last year.
