Great player, better person. I loved that he actually served his commitment to the Navy instead of trying to get out of it and go pro. Like most actual good role models, he got little to no recognition on a national level.

GO Navy. Robinson was a class act all the way. Too bad he played for the Spurs.

Olajuwon dominated a lot of people, and was completely out of his mind in those playoffs. He destroyed Shaq too. No shame on Robinson.
I still feel that the Bulls would not have been able to stop that.

A nice little reminder of why my parents weren't concerned about me idolizing him.
Shame there aren't more like him.
Are you watching the HOF thing? Tim Duncan is less dressed up than John Stockton's kids. I love it.
Also, MJ is dressed like a space politician. I'm pretty sure that suit isn't made from Earth materials.

Since there is no Sloan thread I'll just add this:

If you're a fan of long, monotone speeches, more power to you.

First of all everyone knows Jerry isn't a great speaker but you only get one shot of a Hall of Fame speech so why not cover everything you want to cover. There's nothing wrong with that especially since MJ's speech will go just as long as his.

So you're agreeing he isn't a great speaker, yet throw up a when someone calls that out?

Couldn't agree with you more. I actually started doing dishes during his speech, and I HATE cleaning.

I like The Admiral simply because as a kid I mailed out one of my cards that featured both Robinson and Rodman (as a piston) requesting his autograph and it actually came back signed. I had wanted Rodman to sign his half of the card, but I decided to not take the risk of not getting it back at all. Looking back now, I kinda wish I had sent a pure Robinson card, but as a 8 year old kid didn't know any better. Either way it's a fond memory.

That's f**kin' awesome.
I wish David Robinson was more involved with the NBA. He's pretty much a picture perfect ambassador.
