Nice to start off with a win. Confidence level is great!

Timmy just did not have it today.

Burris 2 strike outs - no hits 1 RBI.

Rowand was a playing as we wanted.

Randy against N2 starter - me gusta mucho.

That N2 starter is highly rated Giovanni Gallardo, so I would be careful about the excitement here.

I've seen him pitch a few times, and he's not overpowering but he is dominant with what he's got, which is why he's viewed as an ace. He seems to have great location on his pitches for the most part.

What I'm looking forward to the most is whether our 3 thru 7 guys can build on today's performance. I liked the patience at the plate that I saw on Freddy's AB's. Bengie is still Big Money. Sandoval, he's gonna have a great OBP. Ishi, boy he's got what it takes to be a big leaguer. And Rowand, he needs to live up to his contract, I'm only asking for 20 bombs considering our ballpark, veteran AB's, and that gold glove defense he's so very capable of.

Yea thats what i was thinking too, but if Rowand plays like this then theres no need for Nate to start.

Scheirholtz will start about 65 games. Maybe more. Each of the 4 regular outfielders will start 65-80 games.

I disagree that Schierholtz will get as many starts as Winn,Lewis, or Rowand. He is clearly the 4th OF and unless there are injuries will not get the same playing time.

You need to take a math class 162 games times 3 OF spots =486 starts. Somehow I dont think that Lewis, Rowand, and Winn are going to start less than 1/2 the games if you project them to start between 65-80 games. Even if they all started 80 games that only amounts to 320 of the 486 possible starts.

So I guess my question is, when can a closer get a save if it's greater than a 3 run lead when he enters the game?

The maximum lead would be 4 and entering with the bases loaded. He would be facing the tying run and the lead run on deck.

Actually that isnt correct. A pitcher could come in the game with a 5 run lead and still get a save. If the potential tying run is in the on deck circle the pitcher can get a save.

Using your math, Rowand, Lewis, and Winn will all start less than 1/2 the time? I dont think so.

I'm hoping Shierholtz will take over for Winn. I know he had a good day at the plate today, but Shierholtz needs some at bats.

That isnt going to happen. Winn had a good year last year and is not in danger of losing his job to a guy who has never proven a thing in the majors. The only way Nate gets the job is if Winn is traded or if there is an injury.

Winn homered today to Bonds territory.

I've got a feeling that Sabean will pull off a Billy Beane tactic and trade Winn while his value is high. Shierholtz will probably be in the lineup more than we think.

Winn is gonna fall off

Winn isnt a superstar but he has hit double digit homers and hit over .300 the last 2 years. He also stole 25 bases last year. So.. I'm not sure you have any basis for saying that he will fall off. Schierholtz has 1 homer in almost 200 ML at bats. He may be a good player but at this point is not yet in Winn's class.

Sabean isnt bright enough to ever pull off a Billy Beane move. Sabean hasnt made a good trade since the 90s. The Giants wont move Winn unless they fall out of the race. If that happens, then he will be trade bait. In the meantime, he will continue to be the starting RF and get the vast majority of playing time.
Lets make it two and zero against Los Cerveceros y Giovanni Gallardo.
