As usual, Cal flatters only to deceive.
Nothing new here.

We got punched in the mouth. That's for sure.
I dunno if it was the early start or what but we got handled! I mean we came back in the end but wtf.

It p**ses me off. We went out there and made a lot of people across the country very happy. This may be sacrilege for me as a Cal fan but I'm rooting for the Trojans to destroy everybody this year and win the NC. I know it doesn't change anything about how the country looks at the Pac 10, but I'd rather they win it all than any of the other powers. I got love for the west coast...even if it is LA.

I'm with you put! It never ceases to amaze me that Tedford Coached teams inherently have the talent but always stumble! If it is funny hoe Tedford gets a free ride from the fans also. I think he is highly overrated? Just my 2 cents!

I don't think he's overrated. I think he's right where he should be considering the talent he recruits. Yes, we have stars here and there every now and again but he really only recruits top 25 classes year in year out. What does that tell you? There's at least 20 other teams with more elite talent than them. We aren't as talented as the monsters of college football. Not top to bottom. Hopefully these facilities can change that cuz we're stuck in limbo. Tedford does excellent with what he has but let's face it. Overwhelming talent, no matter how tired and jetlagged, does not get pushed around like we did today.

With youth comes inexperience. I think we caught a glimpse of that today.
Let's keep in mind, this team, especially the offense with all its new starters, still needs time to find a collective rhythm. The intense, hostile playing environment in College Park today was unlike what this team had seen in the previous two weeks.
week 1: a home crowd. not exactly a hostile envrionment.
week 2: at pullman in front of a disenchanted cougar fan base. again, not exactly a hostile environment.
every team will take its share of bumps. cal is no different. kevin riley, as a 1st year starter, will make his share of poor decisions. this O-line will make mental errors. receivers will lock up at times.
the defense, well....i HATE gregory's bend-don't-break philosophy. giving up the big play on every 3rd down is not effective defense. we desperately need a new scheme.
the special teams needs work on EVERY ASPECT. i can't begin to enumerate the flaws.
bottom line, this cal team needs to gain experience to rid itself of these mistakes in execution. just be thankful this didnt happen against a conference opponent.
even great talent takes time to cultivate. aaron rodgers wasn't exactly a world-beater in his 1st year.
