Dugger has so much room to physically grow and get stronger. He's going to be a different monster in the near future after a year or two in the 49ers' weight room. He could end up being a super athletic 6'5", 250-pound stack LB. that's like a Brian Urlacher type profile..

Yeah. Agree 💯 %. I hear some fans want to replace Bosa. Personally I disagree with this idea, but one way to replace Bosa is with two edge rushers - Height and Dugger. Arguably they can be effective at rushing or dropping into coverage, or both rushing, or both dropping into coverage.

Bosa can only either rush or very rarely drops into coverage. I'd add another Nick Emmanwori/John Lynch type in the secondary who could also rush and drop back, and i think that's one way to replace Bosa.

Again, I'd rather keep Bosa, cap hit and all, despite his injuries because he's a game changer.

I don't think Dugger is at his best with his hand in the dirt, I think he is most effective standing up and "rushing" as a blitzer.

"Replacing Bosa" is just emotional, impatient, knee jerk fan talk. When he is healthy, he is a Top 3 pass rusher in the NFL, a game changer and a defensive cornerstone. You simply don't get players with Bosa's talent profile unless you are picking in the Top 5 of a draft. If you take away his 2 torn ACL's, which unfortunately happened at the beginning of his respective seasons, he has been pretty damn durable, and he has proven to come back just as good or better after recovering each time. He is only 28 years old and still a monster when he plays.

Does he deserve a max contract like Garrett or Will Anderson Jr got? No, but I'm not sure anybody is gonna give him a max deal after his injury history, either.

The 49ers best chance of "replacing" Bosa is with Bosa.

Well you can't just take away the ACL injuries. They happened and they probably have caused some underlying issues like knee tendonitis he'll probably have the rest of his career.

The ball will ultimately be in his court though. Take less or he's probably not going to be back.
