Will he be the annual redshirt RB/WR?

I seem to recall that Hurd was cut because he was injured. In the brief appearances he had he looked as though he could have been a difference maker. We'll never know of course, that was just a bit of bad luck all the way around. Brown has had his moments, which is probably on par with what you would get from a lot of third rounders. I never had a problem with them taking a kicker in the 3rd round. He just turned out to be the wrong one. If he had been a guy that could have delivered consistently and held down the spot for seven or eight years, he would have been well worth the pick.
Special needs drafting 101.
Black is no game breaker but the reports are he's a tough runner that fights for the extra yards. He wasn't a good receiver in college but tht may have been the system he was in. He caught more passes when he played at James Madison.

Is 2,000 yards in 6 years a good stat?

I actually like his style, he can be a good to great RB. If he picks things up, he could actually be a steal.

But who knows
After giving it more time of thinking, it's beginning to make sense a little bit. With our injury history and in particular, McCaffrey's, who averages 300 + carries a season, so if Jordan James goes down too, we don't have anybody and our offense is more predicated with so many play actions and zone running. But, then again, maybe I'm wrong. It's definitely a reach if Shanahan redshirts Black this season which more likely he will.

Was actually a good receiver at JMU, 44 receptions in two years (27 and17). IU system just wasn't utilizing him in that way.

I hope Guerendo sticks. I want that Raheem Mostert homerun style running. Hopefully he has his issues cleared up. Im not optimistic but if he does make the team, that'll bold well for him because they will cut a player after 2 years.

I know Guerrendo ran a fast 40 but I don't think it translates to the field. He isn't slow but I don't think he's 4.3 fast. I dont see him making the team. I don't see him as a very skilled running back.

I hope he proves me wrong but from what I've seen - he's just a dude who ran a fast 40.

He does play fast, but can't see holes. He isn't a natural running back. Reminds me of Robert Beal- elite athlete but no real college production. It seems they were high traits guys they tried to turn into football players- like Lance, Drake Jackson, etc.

Kyle just had some weird obsession for wasting draft picks on RBs
I won't go into just how pissed I still am over this draft but what I really can't understand is the obsession with RB's in the 3rd/4th rounds when they have proven to take NFL RB scraps and turn them into gems. Cap space, salary, draft capital, etc.... such a goddam waste

I think i know what it is (sarcastically but it makes sense)

They give position coaches a pick in each draft and since Bobby Turner has seniority he goes first!!! The first 2 picks are Kyle's.

I can live with that.
We want Swiss Army knives for positions. RBs that can be WRs, WRs that can be RBs.

This dude is super strong beating most linemen at the bench press.

He will be the first RB that can play IOL. Defenders will be confused , and Brocks vision improved.

In all seriousness, he's part of the team and with us. Kyle John chose him so I'm hoping he can do something and not be the annual sacrifice that's purged after 1-2 seasons.
