Prototypical size at 6'2" 207 lbs. To sum him up - dynamic playmaker. Large, strong frame. Big, strong hands. Explosive, home-run speed paired with quick feet and pit bull mindset. The blend of size, speed and hands, and vertical, paired with a fearlessness running over the middle make him one of the highest ceiling prospects in this class. Can run away from anyone and his speed terrified opposing defenses. Team very often either had corners playing with a massive cushion or a safety over-the-top. When they wouldn't, he could make them pay down the field. Against press, he could put corners out-of-phase and into panic mode in a hurry. His quick climb up the stem often made underneath help impossible outside and would stress any defenses that didn't widen their alignment. His run after the catch by both speed and strong style, punished defenses who allowed isolated matchups on corners.
Was the best blocker(WR) in the class and it wasnt close. Routinely put guys on the ground. Would block corners, safeties, LB's and DE's. Versatile enough to be put anywhere on the field. Has a high-floor as his YAC and blocking immediately make him a viable receiver.
His ceiling will be determined by how quickly he develops as a roure runner. "Raw' isn't necessarily the right term, but underdeveloped. Ole Miss's heavy RPO/Read-option offenses created a very condensed route tree that featured very little timing based concepts. Being where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there will be a big change from his offense in Oxford. He'll need to learn a wide route tree, diversify his release package, and to sink his hips and accelerate out of breaks to realize his full potential.
Sky is the limit for this kid. He's not as polished as guys like Omar Cooper or Denzel Boston, but has a higher ceiling.
Undeveloped after a 5 year college career is a concern....so is the lack of a single 1000 yard season despite playing at 3 different universities, two of which were known pass heavy offenses. I don't see a hidden jem but a guy who maybe is already at his peak.

But if a player keeps changing systems, how can one truly develop? Also a 1000 yard season in a college career is not the benchmark for being a great pro receiver. If they have pro level talent, have demonstrated it with some level of consistency on film, and a work ethic, take them.

Bad-Absolute waste of value on the pick. Stribling was considered the lower tier of X receiver below Brazzel and Hurst among others. I saw him mocked in the 3rd round or later. I find it hard to believe we couldn't trade back another time. The only trait Stribling has better than other X receivers is his blocking ability.
Stribling mostly played slot (Y) and flanker (Z), not split end (X). My guess is he will play mostly flanker and be our guy that moves, and sometimes move into the slot to give Pearsall a break. I love the player, I'm don't give a f**k about perceived "value" on a fan site, it gives me a chuckle when the armchairs act like they know what the value of a player is to the team. I think the pick speaks for how the team "values" the player. I have seem this guy play, and he is fun to watch. I think he is going to be fun to watch in Kyle's offense.
You don't like talking about value? Then you haven't watched the niners draft Kickers that bust in the 3rd round while other teams draft sick DEs with the next picks.
another first round WR to a crowded room with multiple other needs still unaddressed by picking a WR that no one had at beginning of round 2.
you really don't understand the concept do you? It's ok. Kyle and John don't either.
I understand the concept of armchairs thinking they know more about player value than they actually do. It is quite entertaining watching them get all butthurt and emotional. I've been watching this process for well over forty years, and it never gets old.

Stribling has excellent size at a sculpted 6-2, 207. He had a good season for Ole Miss. Ran 4.36 X 40. Dad is/was a Marine. You know he's tough. Not really sure why some are pushing back on him.

NOT sure what they saw from this kid and picking him this high.. we could have drafted the BPA or even the best OL there and still take Stribling in the late 2nd or early 3rd...
Shanny PANICKED and just wanted another TWO asap just in case Slick Softy Rick keeps hurting his knees..

In the post draft press conference, ShanaLynch said an interesting thing. He said it only takes one team to like the player your team likes to jump ahead of you and poach your chosen pick.
I never though of the draft from that perspective. Just *one team* is all it takes. Considering the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree has multiple branches in the NFL now, there's a lot of teams that like the same types of players Kyle likes.
I think that may be one factor in them reaching for certain players, specially in the day one and two picks.

Agree, I think one guy here said he's a bigger and faster Jauan Jennings. I agree with that evaluation.

My only concern with him is that it can be hard for WR's to get snaps in their rookie year with Kyle while they learn.
I don't like the idea of using a 2nd pick on someone who doesn't help us this season.
That's why I would have preferred Edge/WR in that order, but hopefully he's up for the challenge and earns a few snaps.

NOT gonna argue about " takes one team " belief that they have... but brah, while Ole MIss had an awesome season last year this kid just did not make enough noise to make the 33rd overall pick valid... if you saw enough of Ole Miss last. year, guy was there, but it's not enough for us to make him the 33rd overall pick when we could have gone BPA and traded UP for him in the mid 2nd if we wanted to..
Good luck to him cause he's a 49er now, but this was a panic pick..

How can it be a panic move when they had the 1st pick of the 2nd RD and had 20 hours to make a decision? They even turned down offers to trade back.

I was a Stribling fan and constantly mocked him to us. But in the 4th round…
I'm excited to have him on the team but I can't defend taking him in that spot. How many people here really think he's going to be better than Germie Bernard?

I'm not worried about Ricky. He had one injury that required him to not play in order to heal. Considering the trash we had on the field as WR, Ricky had to play and couldn't fully heal.

Oh my god, how many posts have we read of yours over the years whining for a big bodied, fast WR, who can get 50/50 balls down the field? Bro, you got your guy. He is not a GADGET.
