Maybe he will have a fumbling problem.
I've never been a major proponent of 40 yard dash speed cause I think a lot of the time it doesn't translate to the field - but this guys speed pops off the screen. So that's nice. Factor in his size, great hands, and run blocking ability… I can see why Kyle loved him.

our WRs are pretty big for this year. I think stripping can play in the slot too and he's huge.
Just want to chime in since the mood is pretty dour in here; he's going to be a HOFer. You heard it here first. I know nothing of the guy, but I do know the universe likes a good told-you-so and then last ten pages will provide a great setup to this comment which we will look upon one day with great joy and admiration. Carry on.

Idk if he'll ever be a big time player but if you watch him, you can tell why Kyle likes him. He brings that major lack of speed and burst that we've had for a while now. He's a willing and aggressive run blocker too (which most guys don't get on the field cause they don't run block well)

He's a faster Hawaiian

Good-I love that they addressed the X receiver position.

Bad-Absolute waste of value on the pick. Stribling was considered the lower tier of X receiver below Brazzel and Hurst among others. I saw him mocked in the 3rd round or later. I find it hard to believe we couldn't trade back another time. The only trait Stribling has better than other X receivers is his blocking ability.

Stribling mostly played slot (Y) and flanker (Z), not split end (X). My guess is he will play mostly flanker and be our guy that moves, and sometimes move into the slot to give Pearsall a break. I love the player, I'm don't give a f**k about perceived "value" on a fan site, it gives me a chuckle when the armchairs act like they know what the value of a player is to the team. I think the pick speaks for how the team "values" the player. I have seem this guy play, and he is fun to watch. I think he is going to be fun to watch in Kyle's offense.

First I'll get my admitted homerism out of the way and say that I love it because he's born and raised in Hawaii. Love the player. My nephew played for the same Highschool and helped a little with coaching when Stribling was there.

Nephew had nothing but great things to say about him leading up to this draft. Amazing character; strong family, and he's a lunch pail to work blue collar work ethic. I went to only two of his games (because of my nephew coaching) but this kid is a freaking dawg man. Stood out in both. I can't see this kid busting; I don't think his work ethic and character will allow it.

All that said; I hate the value and where we picked him. I highly highly doubt anyone takes him before pick 58; but I guess there's stuff out there that McVay and the Rams may have taken him before then, who knows. Hopefully this next pick is someone most of us wanted at 33 so we can pretend that was the pick and D-Strib was the 58th. That would make me feel a lot better lol

Come on mang.....

You can't see the guy busting with his work ethic and character, then you add in legit NFL strength, Legit NFL speed and acceleration, then add in his hands, and his highlight reel at 6-2 210 and you dont think the dude is worth second rounder?

Maybe you should read again; last I checked pick 58 is in the second round
Who made this pick because Shanahan didn't seem happy about it

This. It's what they do every year. At least they are consistent

Lol it did look like it

I'm in the minority here, but I watched Ole Miss a lot just because I'm a Kiffin fan

He's a dog. Physical, speed, size 50/50 balls, can block, YAC, does it all.

I'm not too happy with it because other positions are a need and we are pretty set at WR. But he can be future #1.
To be fair Shanny rarely looks happy about anything
Here is what Zierlin said. He says hes W4, might be a starter in 2 years.

Overview

Long-striding, vertical-access wideout with steady play and production. Stribling has good size and early acceleration to climb over the top of coverage but lacks short-area quickness to gain separation underneath. His downfield ball skills are above average but he struggles to consistently carve out catch space and fight through contested-catch contact for tight-coverage wins. He has legit speed after the catch once he finds open grass. He's also one of the most competitive run blockers in the WR class. Stribling projects as an immediate WR4 who could eventually work his way into a starting role.

Strengths
  • Good initial acceleration into his routes.
  • Pays attention to break routes off at crisp angles.
  • Smooth late adjustments to grab advantages downfield.
  • Able to meet throws with good hand extension.
  • Builds speed quickly after catch for chunk plays.
  • Fits into block targets and fights to stick around.

Weaknesses
  • Linear route movements lack unpredictable elements.
  • Leggy with a lack of separation burst from breaks underneath.
  • Average hip sink getting into intermediate cuts.
  • Needs to play with greater fight when contested.
  • Inconsistent finishing his catches through contact.
He's either not going to see the field or hold out two years into his rookie year. Maybe both.

He'll see the field. What's the chances of both Pearsall and Kirk staying healthy all season?

He's our cowling replacement.
