We need him for at least two seasons, but I hope he stays for a lot longer than that.

He was asked at today's press conference if he wanted to be a head coach again, he basically - in a sense - said yes (in a roundabout way). So i hope nobody gives him one - i dont want to lose this guy. Kyle apparently feels the same way.

It's much harder to keep a good OC or DC now because the new type of owners are impatient and have so much money they don't mind firing a HC that still has 3 or 4 years left on their contract. To these guys it's play money. Every year there are at least a half dozen HC openings.

Well my hope is the Spagnuolo situation. Spag's has won a ton of Superbowls with Fat Andy, but he's still a DC. I hope it's the same with Raheem.
Raheem's been a bit better HC than Spagnuolo, but not by much. I hope that locks Raheem with Kyle for a long time. Hope hope!

I will always love Saleh, but Raheem has been incredible imo. Way better.
Agree 💯 % and I've always hated the Wide 9 as a base defense. I think Raheem is much more balanced and has more coverage and front 7 alignment variety than Saleh. Eberflus helping Raheem draft Linebackers, we'll finally have a complete defense at every level, Dline, LB's, and DB's. With Raheem, we potentially can have a defense that can confuse an elite QB like Patrick the Kermit.
Like everything on defense, there are pros and cons to every scheme. With the league using more 2 high safety looks, interior gap scheme runs are back. Wide9 doesn't handle interior runs well unless you have two stud DTs, not easy to acquire. Moving away from being exclusively wide9 had to happen to adjust to current run schemes.
So far, Morris seems to run a scheme defense as opposed to an execution defense. Meaning he will adjust his scheme to best counter this week's opposing offense. As opposed to, 'this is the one thing we do, we do it at a high level, we do it every week'.
Agree, Morris is more of a scheme defense versus a execution defense. I think it mirrors Kyle's offense. The OLinemen in Kyle's offense can gap or zone block. In Raheem's defense the varied front enables him to stop the run or cover the pass. The five man front goes into a 4-3 zone if Duggar or Height drop into coverage. At the same time, a four man line becomes five man box if Dugger or Height line up on the LOS in run defense. Now all the run gaps are covered, in a sense. He likes to hide the coverages and move the fronts right after the protection calls and before the QB snaps the ball. I love that about this defense - the Fever backer is almost utilized like the old Seifert Elephant defender - moved around and used to screw up the pass coverages and OLine pass protections. What Raheem needs is that hybrid Safety/Linebacker - Stout is the perfect guy from a mentality and athletic standpoint, but he's just physically too small to line up on the LOS and take on Tight Ends and Guards as a run defender. John Lynch (in Monte Kiffen's Tampa Two) and to a certain extent Nick Emanwori does that in MacDonald's defense.
Morris isnt bound to one scheme is he? He seems to adjust as needed, which you both already hinted at. I do think run defense is suspect, but no team has really stubbornly tried to run it all game yet, perhaps because we often have a lead.

You're not wrong, but I am loving what I am seeing so far. But I can play devil's advocate - let's see how we do second round against the Rams and Seahawks after a half season plus of film etc. That's fair.

I think a lot of teams are moving towards Offensive Head Coaches who call plays so teams don't hire away your OC and screw up your QB's development.
And if a team wanted to hire a defensive HC this year they'd go for Brian Flores (minus the nasty legal stuff happening now). That defense is on pace to be the best defense since 1993.
