i actually really like our CB group true we dont have an elite CB and we can obviously use one but very few teams have that. Like you said the S group is worrying i really hope next season we throw a lot of resources there.

Dre Greenlaw mentioned that Nick Martin was playing feverbacker in Morris' defense. This is the first time I've heard that term. After doing some research and asking around, it sounds like it's more of a role than an actual position ie a type of hybrid front-7 defender that isn't tied to one spot. Expect to see that person rushing off the edge, dropping into coverage, playing stacked, QB spying, moving around the formation disguise and muddy looks, etc.

Honestly, it sounds like the perfect role for Jaden Dugger. This likely explains why he was seen doing pass rush drills the other day. We'll probably see both Dugger and Martin splitting snaps in that feverbacker role.

I was always skeptical of the belief that Morris was going to come in and run some kind of variant of the 4-3 wide 9 the 49ers have been running the last half decade. It just didn't make sense in my eyes because Morris has had a clear-cut identity the last few years. Personally, I'm very excited to see the changes because I've never really been a fan of the base wide 9. I'm also an odd front guy at heart. The real question I have is how much of that previous system is still going to carry over. Also, I don't know how you marry Morris' vision with Kris Kocurek's philosophy in the trenches. Unless there's some sort of growth or evolution on Kocurek's part, I feel like there's a friction here between what KK and Morris believe in.

Should've just signed Von Miller, I doubt he would cost that much. Then again, maybe they tried but didn't want to play for the 9ers who knows.

Don't sleep on Ogbo, he might have a resurgence... being arounds so many dawgs / HOF talent and playing D under Morris

I know it's the preseason, but the scheme looked exactly the same as previous years. The 49ers played their basic wide 9 the entire game. Even base down package was the typical 4-3 over(9-3-2i-9) with 3 stack LBs.

Either Morris held back, or the 5-man front stuff in camp was overblown. You'd think we would've seen more new stuff to get a chance to work on but nope.
