Left Squad
Rather than a holdout or an excused absence, this list is for players who simply leave the team. Once a team places a player on this list, they have 5 days to return to the team. If they do so within 5 days, the club can add them back to the roster (if a spot is available), or cut them as they so choose. Once 5 days have passed, the player can be placed on the Reserve/Retired list, added to the active list (if room is made), or waived. If they ever decide they want to play football again, a player seeking reinstatement from retirement can only play for their original club. In this case, the player does not accrue any seasons for the year spent on reserve, and their contract is "tolled"; a contractual term that describes a pause in the progression of the contract. For example: A player would be paid at their 2013 rate in 2014 if their contract were tolled for the 2013 season.
This happened this year with the Broncos' John Moffit and the Redskins' James Davis, who each left their team (and football entirely) during the preseason. Players on this list do not count towards roster limits.

So the 9ers still control his contract and he doesn't count as a roster spot AND they don't have to pay him.
QUESTION: But the 9ers still have dead cap money each of the next couple of years from the signing bonus they gave him right? If he leaves, that money is accelerated forward into the current year; unless he is designated a post June 1 cut, then it's over 2 years. This hit happens whether the 9ers trade him or his is on the reserve list.
9ers and BA got rid of the guaranteed money - which softens the contract blow to a team acquiring him.
So trade him for a late round pick - no way you will get more for a headcase like BA. Any future cap obligation becomes the team that acquired him.

You worded it perfectly.
What are the ramifications or benefits to the Salary Cap with all that happened? If the contract has been voided doesnt the team get back all that salary cap? That would be huge!!

I don't think any team is going to trade for Brandon Aiyuk at this point. Not only is he acting unprofessionally he's coming off a gruesome knee injury and nobody knows what he'll be like. It's a bad situation all around, but I think for simplicity the team is going to want to rid themselves of this guy and move on. It is what it is. Unfortunate, because I liked the player prior to all this nonsense.

I have no clue how it works but if all the big bonus money was voided then his contract might actually be appealing in a trade.
If there are no big guarantees and only a reasonable AAV then I would think a few teams would believe they could "fix" him and have a near true #1 for a discounted rate.
Otherwise just cut him and be done with it. I was all for keeping him but it is clear they should have traded him for the best deal they could get and drafted a replacement the way the Vikings did with Diggs. Even if the didn't get a good draft pick at least they would have saved a ton of money.

Some team will take a chance....question is what they are willing to part with?
I doubt we get anything higher than a 6th rounder at this point unfortunately

Yes they can get back some of his signing bonus prorations, but that likely won't happen until 2027, but they will likely get back some money in 2026 from an injury policy that they likely took out on him.
As far as his dead money the team would still have to eat the remainder of his signing bonus & 2025 option bonus, they will lose like $15M in cap room if traded or released before June 1.
