One observation from the final play of the game….go back and watch the replay, if Caleb Williams hits the RB quick off the snap, he almost walks in for the game winning TD.
One thing not being mentioned enough is just how many huge plays Williams missed that easily change the outcome.

They have to get that fixed.

You can literally dissect ANY play that doesn't work in NFL history and say well this other guy would've been a better option.

What this tells me is it was a nice disguise/look by Saleh to where Caleb/Ben Johnson did not expect that to be open. Saleh saved his check mate for the last play!

Not sure about the checkmate. Despite rushing 2, the Bears had wide open receivers in the endzone. I think one guy was jumping up and down begging for Caleb to give him a look. We're lucky that Caleb didn't have the smarts yet to make those kinds of plays. He could've easily passed it to his RB coming out of th backfield and given him a one on one chance to score or found his receivers at the back end of the endzone. He decided to hold it too long and still one hopped it to an open guy at the end.

bad defense all around. Saleh needs to make some type of change to the scheme or we're toast.

Not clear what is happening in the secondary. Never seen so many open receivers running free in our secondary. Having Green back should help. Stout is getting pretty good. That comes down to the fact that our LBs and safeties just can't cover at all.

I just don't they can play zone well. Either guys leave their coverage spots or get reeled in by the offensive guys (2 guys covering same receiver). Maybe it's youth and inexperience. Or maybe they're just not that good. But opposing teams are exploiting it. It's actually quite unforgivable and the only reason the tune in Ninerland is different today is because Caleb missed out from the 2 yard line. Imagine if he had converted and this would have been a horrific showing for an offense that was scoring at will on the Bears and still ended up losing.

Lets see what we put up against Darnold but if the collective mentality is well it's Darnold he's just gonna self implode we might be packing our bags for Philly this time next week

Everyone knows damn well that staff / players don't react off wtf we say in here lol, no way they're over looking seaCucks

I can all but guarantee Niners are locked in and see Darnold / Cucks as a huge threat. They are NOT over confident like we are in here

Where are the wide open receivers? Are you talking about DJ Moore? Lol

Caleb was running backwards trying to avoid being sacked. The D did their part in the end. Caleb still almost completed the pass buy by no means was it an easy pass to make. The D did their job to the best of their ability on that play.

Some of that is Ben Johnson's scheme. He is next to Kyle in terms of offensive scheme. What we saw yesterday is what he was doing with Jared Goff that made him so successful. Johnson leaves and Goff is the old Goff.

Yet he still didn't get the sack.

Huff blew up that play design to the RB. The only way is luck getting it past Huff, or a high floater giving the defense plenty of time.

He did over pursue, but it forced Williams back the other way against his arm.

No where to put this but:

watched 87 Bears Vs 9ers on youtube.

Harbaugh takes a deep 20 yard sack. Ditka just cussing him out when he gets to the sideline.

What a wild glimpse into football history.

The Bears had that one awesome years when their defense devoured everyone. Maybe the best defense I ever saw. Unfortunately they couldn't sustain it and their offense wasn't good enough to overcome. Walter Payton was pretty much it and he was near the end of his career.
Honest opinion here... Not calling the timeout on the last drive by the bears before the hook and ladder play basically doomed the series.

They wasted so much time when they had like one minute left...

To me that was a huge coaching mistake.

You could have planned any number of plays with a minute left. Them not calling that timeout was a huge mistake.

I agree that they didn't manage their time well. They were so concerned about leaving us time to score that they cost themselves.

That one play ran something like 20 seconds off the clock. As I am recalling they had something like 50-60 seconds and ended up with 39 seconds after the hook and ladder.

They basically put themselves into the danger zone of a stopped run or taking a sack and you at best get one scramble to the line end of game play off.

They should have stopped the clock at a minute then planned out the next 5 plays.

And Malik Mustapha saw that the RB was open and looking at this play if Caleb Williams had thrown the ball, there's a good chance Mustapha woud have stopped the Bears RB before the goal line and the Bears would have lost the game. I think that Caleb Williams couldn't do much better than what he did on this last play. Hell he almost completed that last TD pass even with the big pressure of YGM.
