Probably at least half the kickers in the league were released by some other team. It's part of the job. If you're a kicker don't buy a house. Just rent.

Gay has been awful this year. 68% FG. Career 84%. There had to be better options available..

Make no difference who they sign. It was going to be somebody that was released because they weren't getting the job done. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for this guy. If not they bring in someone else until Piniero can kick agian. If he isn't good after his injury (remember what happened to Moody) then they release him too.
