There is another realistic possibility for the 49ers to grab a wildcard after this weekend if they beat AZ:

Detroit loses at Philly
or
Chicago loses at Vikings
or
Packers lose at Giants

The third option can happen because it is at Giants and Jamis Winston has been named starter for Giants and he is a good QB. Plus the new interim coach for Giants has to prove he can win which is why he chose Winston over Russell Wilson who has been playing atrociously.
I don't see this team as good enough to win a SB so what's the point of making the playoffs? Just another game or two where players can get injured bad enough to screw up next season. They had a real shot at winning when they went to the SB against the Chiefs. They lead both games going into the 4th. I doubt that this team is good enough to even win the NFC let alone a SB. Too many key players are missing.

Truth.

Playoff experience for the young guys is irrelevant, I guess. All that matters is your feelings.

Maybe they should just trim down the playoffs to 2-3 teams per conference, right? Because as you said, "what's the point of making the playoffs" if you're not a true SB contender?

Yeah, but when/if we dont make the playoffs, that gets held against KS, the orgnaization, the roster etc. People will say the Niners missed the playoffs the last two seasons, not they missed the playoffs in 2024 but 2025 doesnt count since they were hurt and had no chance to win the SB anyway. You play to win the game.

If we go I just hope we get matched up against Seattle or LA. It'd be worth it for me just to have the chance to beat one of them which I think we could do with a healthy offense. We know them well and on a great day we can beat them. Who knows, maybe they'll suffer one of the catastrophic injuries we have. The chance to beat either of those teams would make it worth it to me.
Once a team gets into the tourney, anything can happen.

7 seed is usually one and done.

Collins and an improving West will make a big difference. Also, Bethune's film time will help keep things better organized in the defense.

If those two things happen, things could be interesting.

Usually is not a synonym for always, therefore......

Absolutely... and same goes for the entire squad. They've all been learning on the fly and trying to build chemistry (things don't flow right w/out it). The game hasn't slowed down for the rooks but after the bye, things could look a lot better. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also, once the regular season is over, could a team in the playoffs make a deal with other teams, ie, would Niners be able to get someone off the Saints roster and what not

When you get an opportunity to win it all, you need to seize the moment. The Niners did not. Guys got older, more injured and more expensive. I've said it a million times. If the team had 7 SB titles right now, I wouldn't care about all of these injuries etc. It would be easier to swallow.

I think we are closer to a rebuild than SB contention. The Rams and Seattle have better rosters. That is not even getting into the likes of Philly, Detroit, TB, GB etc.

This team would not last long in the postseason.

There's a good chance that Lions and Packers could wind up with one or two more losses than the 49ers. And I wouldn't be surprised if 49ers, Lambs, seaCucks, Eagles and Tampa end up with the same record in the end... Tampa would have the tie breaker on us because we lost down there

There's no clear path or world beaters in the NFC... it's too early to tell if we're the 7th, 5th or even 4th seed

Dear doc, look at each teams' schedule... w/out being a homer / hater for either team, tell me who is running away

Show me your predictions of each team W/L You can't come through with clear cut scenarios, I bet you try and still can't

Come up with an analysis... you'll convince yourself with something just to feel good and sleep well tonight and maybe tomorrow
