best thing about eddie p ?
if he sucks, he can be cut IMMEDIATELY. just like any kicker. theres no fake competitions, no "we will wait and see". Just cut and next kicker up.

Basically this happened. Got rushed back, and his ankle wasn't fully healed. Now I'm sure by this year he's healthy, but mentally not even close. He got the yips..
One thing with the NFL is that coaches basically dgaf about K/P/LS position and they sure as hell don't know how to coach it, which includes ST coaches.
It's weird that you never, or maybe it's happened a few times in NFL history, where a former K/P/LS becomes a ST coach. So you don't see these guys actually teach these positions, or have any medical input. In their mind (NFL coaches) it's ankle sprain takes 2-4 weeks to recover, so K/P should be on the same timeline. When that's basically not the case for those positions since they literally rely on that foot for everything, and any minor issue can screw their technique/power/accuracy.
I am 100% convinced this play ruined Jake Moody's career.

I think Moody is mentally weak and he never got his confidence back after his miss in Cleveland in 2023 and then he missed one kick in every playoff game that season.
He had been a dead man walking since then.

He started his career 9 for 9 and then the Cleveland game happened. I don't think that's a coincidence. He's made less than 70% of his kicks since then.

From 40+ yards out:
Moody is 16 for 29 (55%)
Pineiro is 43 for 55 (78%) <- and this is including his 2019 season where he went 5 for 9
I just don't agree with the narrative that we signed him just so we can have someone automatic from under 40. His BIGGEST improvement over Moody is actually the 40+ distance. Moody misses twice as often in that range (45% vs 22%)

CAREER:
20-29 YARDS
25-25
30-39 YARDS
42-45
40-49 YARDS
32-41 (3-7 last year - before that only missed 3 kicks in 5 years)
50+ YARDS
11-14
XPM / XPA
116-126
Besides last year, he's been pretty good. But last year is worrying especially between 40-49 yards.
Overall he's been good. That XPM is very worrisome though. 10 missed XP kicks??
