With the news of Russell Gage going down with the MCL ...This makes Moore sense now

High picks that get injured, or otherwise not reach the over-the-top fan expectations of fans are always going to be a target for fan criticism. The fact remains, he was a high pick for good reason. If he can fill the dual role of returner it will be worth it, additional WR help will be a bonus.
He is also a tough guy. Got in a fight with Lenoir last year. Landed enough blows to warrant a fine.

I barfed when I first saw this trade because I just don't understand why you would ever give up draft capital (and yes, swapping a 6th for a 7th is giving up draft capital) just for a warm body to get through camp when you can just sign ANYBODY off the street to do that very thing.
However, I've reversed course a little and that's mainly because of what he can give us from the return game. While Bergen was drafted for just that, he doesn't really give us any value as a receiver right now. Skyy is a return specialist with plenty of value as a receiver, if needed. So I can see us leaning on him all season.
Here's a question. If we hadn't made the trade and Skyy was cut by the Chiefs, would he be cheaper as a free agent or would his small rookie contract from a few years ago be cheaper?

if he's cut he enters the waivers process, and he's subject to a claim from any team. that's often a reason you see trades like this. no guarantee the 49ers would land him if he's cut.

Have we ever had a trade with the Chiefs where we clearly got the better end of the deal? They always start out good but end poorly for us it seems. This one didn't really cost us anything though.

You don't understand how football rosters are built if your only response to a depth piece addition is "he still sucks."

Leave the actual football discussion to the adult table https://t.co/3rlQBcJuNE
I bet Lombardi is one of those dumb fans who still believe this is a top-5 roster.
Or could be one of those dumb fans who has no idea who is on the roster or who players are that have been on the team the years

Sky Moore may have more value under Kyle. He's not a great pure WR but he does everything Kyle asked Deebo to do well. He's just another YAC threat to get us through to week 6 when we have full roster. Good pick up and not sexy at all.

Yeah but we kill it in the 4-6 rounds our 6th is going to be high so almost a 5th theirs will practically be a undrafted FA Chiefs fleeced us again

George Kittle, DJ Jones, Dre Greenlaw, Colton Mckivitz, Charlie Woerner, Deommodore Lenoir, Talanoa Hufanga, Elijah Mitchell, and possibly Dee Winters are all hits with Marques Sigle as well. All 5th/6th rounders I even left out a few that have contributed as backups.

brock and jennings in the 7th. the team is good at talent evaluation and we can find guys whether it's undrafted, round 7 or what have you. mason was undrafted.

Well that's a big difference between 10-12 players to two 😂 not to diminish how good Purdy, Jennings, and Mason are but it took several injuries for each of them to see the field while everyone else I named won the job in camp

the broader point is we do well in the later rounds. pick swaps of 2027 end of draft picks are no biggie.

Umm the broader point is we drafted 10 let me repeat TEN starters in the 5-6 round range and only 1 in the 7th. You're right tho still be no biggie because we will never even know who we might have landed
