The list tends to over-react both up and down.
No the rankings are according to what the voters think going into the current season. It's voted on by current players, I don't think half of them even fill out their ballots and a lot of them probably haven't watched film on most of the players they're voting for. Last year going into the 24 season McCaffrey was ranked in top 10. So the rankings are complete recency bias to the umpteenth degree. The point is if McCaffrey's last season hadn't gone to s**t Darnold wouldn't be ranked anywhere the f**k close to him.
