But hopefully Saleh can work his magic with him. Gives us a speed rusher on obvious pass downs. Hoping the compensation isn't anything serious.

so he never even played vs. the Chiefs?

He did not. He was a healthy scratch for the superbowl. We chose to play a retiring Brandon graham who only had 1 arm over him

Huff will only have 1 job here. Get after the QB. He won't be asked to stop the run. He won't be asked to drop back in coverage. He won't be on the field on plays where a run play is even a possibility, Unless it's like a 3rd and 20 and it's just a give up play.
I think with what you are describing he just doesn't fit your scheme with the Eagles. But he fits the Robert Saleh scheme really well. Because that was his best ever year. With the Jets. Saleh knows how to use him effectively. As a pass rush specialist. We have guys to set the edge. Including our 1st round pick. 1 - 11 overall - Mykel Williams - Georgia. He was literally known as an edge setter. He also can play a lot of positions and move around. He has length and size with long arms. So he was picked for that and we needed it. Because the defensive line deteriorated previously. From free agency, draft misses, injuries, age, moving on. Various reasons.

I don't disagree with that at all.

Yeah, Brandon Graham was a stud for you guys for a long time. I remember when he was coming out of college. Dude had a hell of a career. One of those guys who never got a ton of accolades but was reliable for a long time.

Huff was just a bad fit for the eagles defensive scheme and he's not a good edge setter. I don't believe he's good at coverage etc. he's really only good at pass rush, which is fine for what we are asking him to do. So if he's being asked to do that other stuff here, I imagine he would be a major disappointment.

I feel confident that Saleh knows how to utilize him best from their history together. I hope he can ball out blitzing for us - it's a rare win/win for both teams, which is kinda cool.

Eagles made a mistake paying him, no big deal. It happens to every team. They at least acknowledge it and are doing their best to cut losses and try to find someone that can contribute with that roster spot.

IMO he's a more dynamic edge rusher compared to Floyd. A lot of high caliber pressures/sacks under Saleh.

elite level get off and pressure rate. Think Ngakoue, Ford or Avril.

Ever never? I don't know...seems too one dimensional of an approach. I hope Salad mixes in different things for Huff to throw the offense off

Nah, he'll be out there when the ball is run occasionally, and then he'll be expected to try. He might even be expected to cover a few times. It just won't be the case most of the time.
Let's all hope this ends up being a 4th round pick. That would mean Huff performed well enough to make the 5th rounder a 4th rounder.

With the addition of Huff do you still feel like Mykel will be a 10 sack guy?

It will be interesting to see if Williams get moved inside when Huff is in on pass situations. He did that sometimes in college.

Not to mention we all know 5th round is where we do our best drafting...though I feel like we may actually be switching(or adding) with the 4th round.

Mustapha, Guerendo, Cowing look promising and I expect good things from CJ West and Jordan Watkins from this class.

But yes...let's hope he's worth the higher pick and his addition gives us the same team result it gave to the Eagles.

I love BG. He's an eagles legend. But he was 6 weeks out of having a torn tricep. We chose to play him with one arm over huff. He actually retore that tricep in the first quarter. He's an animal tho finished that game

Always nice to see other teams fans on here, anything you can say about Huff? I know the scheme wasn't a fit, since he played inn a 4-3 W9 scheme in NY, & you guys run a 3-4 scheme.

Also as a 49ers fan I have to congratulate you guys on the SB win, I wanted you guys over the Chiefs, so happy they got denied a 3 peat even though it seemed like the NFL wanted it.

Best of luck this season, and yes Brandon Graham is a legend for the Eagles, but nothing but love, not gonna trash talk you guys, big fan of Barkley, I live in NY, so I've seen a lot of Barkley, the Giants messed up paying Daniel Jones and not Saquon.
Kocurek improved a number of DE's - hopefully between him and Saleh Huff will light it up.
