49ers trade for DE Bryce Huff

Seems like a high upside player, given the production he's had in Saleh's system.

For those complaining about the draft pick….even if it's as high as a third, look at all we have thrown away. Moody, Latu, TDP, Danny Gray, Trey Sermon….any production is better than that dumpster heap

1) How many years is this for? Is this a 1 year rental and then he's out? The internet seems murky on this. Maybe the details aren't out yet.

2) Mid round what? Like 3rd? 4th? 5th? 3rd is pretty high. 5th is no big deal. Next years draft?

If anybody knows those. Generally I like bringing in another pass rusher. Who was successful under Saleh. So maybe this is good. Just a lot of murky things we don't know yet.

1. We will have to see what the restructure details are once the trade is finalized. Right now he has 2 years left but the current set up is $17M for him next year. My guess is it's a one year deal and the last year is voided OR it's a 2 two year deal with more guaranteed money for the final year but less than $17M.
- short answer is that we don't know yet.

2. we also don't know what round pick it is yet. Schefter reported that it's a day 3 pick. 4-7th round. My guess is that it's a sixth but idk.

Two years is more fair and I'm more ok with that. Glad to hear that. Don't want to trade away a pick for a 1 year rental. 4 - 7 or a 6th would be great. I'm not on board with trading a 3rd. That's too high. But this sounds better than I thought and we need a pass rusher with experience and production.

We're gonna pay him 7.9M fot this year and he is under contract until 2026.

That is accurate in the existing contract but we will have to see how the restructure looks. Sometimes, in situations like this, the player will agree to voiding the final year to make them more trade able and give them flexibility after the season.

I hope we have the guy on the hook for 2 years though. What's interesting is he is super fresh. lol he barely played last year. Getting a break in the middle of your career like that, especially being a healthy scratch, can help these guys as they age.

It's not just the 3rd round that they've sucked, they've busted 80% in the first four rounds.

Would love to see them trade for a DT. Really wish they would've at least kept Maliek Collins. Two weaknesses I see on defense at least right now is DT and Safety. Don't get mean wrong I love the two picks at DT, but are they really gonna rely on two rookies? Sure they got Evan Anderson but, he's still too young to rely on. IMO

Didn't fit the wide nine.

? He was perfect as a one gap penetrating DT.

Love the signing. Will be a great addition to the team and rotation. Guys going to come in with a chip on his shoulder and be ready to go.

Your logic for a bust must be a player should be a pro bowl level player if not they are a bust? That's fine but that's not the logic most people tend to use. According to your logic 80% is probably the league average honestly.

M Collins, K Givens, A Collins, C West, E Anderson

doesn't move the needle much for me. Maliek was ok but I'd rather just give all the young guys the reps they need to grow.

Collins had a PRWR of 13% good for 7th overall in the league tied with Milton Williams who just got paid.

imo he was the one guy that didn't make a ton of sense to move off from. He was a good interior rusher and imo better at run defending than Hardgrave was.
