need to start seeing Chase Lucas on these 53

Lucas is probably CB#4 right now behind Lenior, Green, and Stout.

Thanks, as for Gage, he'd be released, so Kevin Givens can go on IR, then re-signed the next day to the 53, I just listed what I would have the week 1 53 man roster looking like.

I think Wilson has a real shot, especially with Taylor dislocating his shoulder, hopefully the 49ers keep Kiner, he's so good, high ankle sprain, the RBs have been banged up, idk who behind CMC will be there week 1, how long will Guerendo & James be out for?

I can see the 49ers keeping 2 of the following 4 at CB, Luter, Lucas, Robinson, & Flowers, while Brown would be cut, with DMo, Green, Stout, & Neal as locks, Neal because they signed him to a 2yr deal with $2.255M fully GTD, & Boyer will get some of the guys he likes, same when it comes to Surratt & Gifford, I can see Robinson over one of them, I really don't want them to waive any of the following, Kiner, Willis, Colby, Moss, Valdez, Davis & Bergen, all IMO better make the final 53, I just don't see how Kiner, Colby, Moss, Bergen, Davis or Valdez goes unclaimed, I really hope Kyle & John don't repeat bad mistakes, like waiving Jarrett Kingston, or keeping Ambry Thomas over Samuel Womack, so please for the love of god/all things holy keep those players on the 53.

I really didn't want Taylor to make it, I want Kiner to make it to the 53 too.

Lucas keeps showing up, at some point that needs to result in making the team. I like Luter, Robinson, and Flowers this camp as well.

Really glad Willis' performance has stepped up enough to hopefully make the 53.

Davis has to be healthy ... the fact that he appears to be on this team this year seems like a miracle.

Can't keep everybody and the plan is for the coaches to make young players play significant roles this year, and I'm all for it.

I can't see them going into the season with just Trent, McKivitz and Burford at tackle. Colby is definitely showing up. I am giving up Bergen or Surrat to keep another OL.

I think Flowers and Lucas are a lot better than Luter.

I agree. He's definitely ahead of Luter and Flowers right now. He also has the ability to contribute to special teams, which is an area Luter has really struggled.

Drop Chosen and add Pleasants- Pleasants easily goes through waivers and on to PS. Not so with Chosen.
Replace Luter with Lucas- I like Lucas and wouldn't die on this hill, but not sure he can cover on the outside. More of a slot guy IMO.

Other than that looking about right to me.

Anderson has to go through waivers so the logical choices to cut for players to go on IR are Gage & Chosen since they don't have to go through waivers.

AB,

Thanks for clearing that up.

It doesn't look like Anderson has made a leap this year which is a shame, at least so far. He looks like he's changed his body, but not so much his game. I really want to see consistent growth from Anderson, Collins, West, Williams, and Valdez week to week. If that happens then Kocurek is the man.

I fully support these comments.

I don't see how the team can be good this year (and next) without a number of rookies and other "arrow-up" people playing well. The non-improvers don't have much value as you can't make an argument they are good enough to win with. This was previously a reason to keep some of guys we did and let go of arrow-up guys. "Good enough" was tempting.

Without a lot of these arrow-up guys, our current ceiling is mildly depressing IMO. Might as well put together a roster with a chance to do something this year and especially in the out years. Put another way… even if much goes sideways and there are real growing pains this year, ending up a little worse than definitely-not-good-enough wouldn't break my heart.

Matt Maiocco brought up the likelihood the 49ers may go with only 4 WRs for initial 53 with at least 2 of the following 3 WRs being available after the first day, Robbie Chosen, Russell Gage Jr and Isaiah Hodgins.
AB81,
The 49ers can place 2 players on IR DR in order to save two roster spots for the initial 53, correct?
