-First 2 days: A
We needed a new D-line with run-stoppers and we did it and now the defense looks way better than last year.
-Last day: F
Only one o-lineman (in the 7th round) for an O-line that is below average in terms of individual talent but instead of drafting more o-linemen we got 2 receivers that we all know won't play this season and they knew the issue with Mustapha but they drafted a safety until the 5th round.
Overall I'd give them a
C
At the end if the first 4 picks turn out to be very good we all are gonna be very happy with this draft........until a starting o-lineman gets injured

I don't know s**t about college players and so my opinion comes off the light reading of mock drafts. But, we needed some chunkers in the middle and that's what we got.
A lot of people are complaining about OL but I think our OL is pretty decent. What's not decent is our starting safeties (one because he's injured, the other because he sucks). Hope we have a plan!
As with every draft class I'll just say it's solid up front and in 2 or 3 years we can grade it
B seems like they gambled on day 3. Hopefully it's not a knock on cowing

B. Like the start. Don't know much about some of the others. Although players had higher grades. Some were scheme fits, like Upton Stout-the 49ers all said they are reminded of K Williams. How fast he gets to that level we will have to wait and see, but if it is true then it is a great pick. Same with Nick Martin Saleh loves him.
The thing I am concerned initially some of them have possible injury history. Hope they are like Gore, that it gets left behind when they leave college.
Lynch mentioned why they did not draft OL, there were players they wanted but the ones they wanted got away from them before they could pull the trigger. No sense drafting a player you don't like or that doesn't fit just to check the Box, plus I am reading that year the OL talent will be what the DL was this year so.
Wide receiver and RB, we need players so they get injured lately and who knows, one may turn into a jewel in the rough.
The only questionable one I had was the QB, I know this is being nit picky, but I thought they could have gotten him with the last 7th round pick
In any case, the thing to remember comes the 2nd phase of FA, maybe the niners sign someone for the OL

That's weird, at the top you complain that there was no BPA (which I agree with) as we reached for needs, but then at the end you complain they didn't go for their needs at OT and C! Pick a lane!

BPA according to who? Many of them have never run a run office.
Also, BPA according to what? If you base on NFL. COM, Mykel was the best edge. Were there better pass rushers? Yes, but one had an issue and ended up dropping then there are others who look good in college, but don't pan out and the opposite holds true, low numbers but become great pros.
I especially find it laughable when people say it's about the value. I don't care about that, if they turn out to be an above average to great pro, it's mute pt.

I'll give it a sold B+, and am overall pretty excited by the group we got. Four potential starters in the first five picks. Like most, I wish we would have addressed the offensive line more - but I also saw limited opportunities to. As much of a pound the table for offensive line improvement guy as I am, there was honestly only one I would have drafted instead of someone we did. Two players we missed out on that I would have really liked, and one I think would have been a better choice.
1 - Mykel Williams - LOVE the pick! When we saw who was on the board, this was the guy I wanted. Sets the edge well against the run, and has tons of potential as a pass rusher. I already saw an interview where he was talking about picking Bosa's brain to find out what he would do in situations and WHY. Tells me he knows what he needs to work on, and is ready to do it!
2 - Alfred Collins - LOVE the pick! Initially wanted Aireontae Ersery here, and Collins in the 3rd. But after seeing some of the DT's that went before and around this pick, I am not sure he would have lasted until then. So if I had to choose one, Collins would have been it. Massive player with a motor. Great against the run, and also has potential to improve as a pass rusher. If he can improve his first step quickness, he will be nasty.
3 - Nick Martin - Like the pick. Great speed and seems like he takes great angles to the ball. Makes his way through traffic and seems to always be around the play - great fit here. The missed tackles last year concern me a little, but I also know he was playing through an injury.
3 - Upton Stout - Don't love the pick, but don't hate it either. Limited size pretty much means he will have to play the slot. Tackles well and plays the run. I just think 3rd round was a bit high for him, especially with Xavier Watts still on the board. I probably would have gone DT here at the time. But knowing about Maliks' injury, I think Watts would have been a better pick here.
4 - CJ West - Really like this pick! Dude has a motor! Pushes the pocket well, and has room to improve his technique. The only thing I hate about this pick is we missed out on Teddye Buchanan. I would have loved to have grabbed him and really improved the LB corps. Going with my initial, if we had taken DT in the 3rd then Buchanan would have been my pick here.
4 - Jordan Watkins - I don't know. Will we use him? I think that is the biggest question, considering Cowing was almost forgotten about last season. Watkins is a little bigger and stronger, and looks to be about as fast.
5 - Jordan James - Don't hate the pick or the player. Replacement for Mason for sure. Marcus Mbow would have been a consideration here, as I think he could fill the need at swing tackle. But I wasn't sold on him and don't know if he'll ever be more than a versatile reserve.
5 - Marques Sigle - Here is the pick that I hate. I just think this was too high and he would have been available later. Again, with the 49ers knowing about Malik's injury, I think Watts should have been drafted earlier. Either way, my pick here would have been OT Cameron Williams. Knowing we had no 6th round pick, and knowing there was no way he'd last until the 7th round. I think he has massive potential and upside. I think this is the biggest miss of the draft for us.
7 - Kurtis Rourke - Hate this pick, but it's a 7th rounder so whatever. Injury waiting to happen. Don't like his ball placement. Don't think he will play well when hurried, which could happen a lot here. I think Sigle could have still been available here.
7 - Connor Colby - I don't think he will have any impact. Typical 49ers O-line pick "Scheme fit" over strength / talent. I'd been MUCH happier packaging these two 7th rounders to move up into the 6th Cameron Williams....
7 - Junior Bergen - 7th round pick for a PR/KR? I'm fine with that. Looks faster to me than his 40 time.

B+. Seemed pretty clear they wanted to address the 29th ranked run defense (Williams, Collins, West) and 32nd ranked special teams unit (Watkins, Sigle, Bergen). Most of the players fit prototypes of the players they like to draft.
I figured they would try to bring in a late-round swing tackle to compete with Pleasants, Gutierrez, and Alarcon (suspended). I'd imagine they will just fill the spot after the 53-man cut-down day before the season starts. If Burford loses the LG starting job Bartch, I wouldn't mind giving him a shot at tackle. He played LT in college before we drafted him to play RG.

I said B.
We addressed the D which was a must but so was our OL Iike everyone knows.
But all of you addressing the RB selection. Seems to me your not even upset about the WHO was selected just that a RB was. After all the backs we go through every year it's not a surprise. To me the surprise was the QB.

Ask again in three years. Right now we know zip about anyone, from #1 to Mr Irrelevant.
We got the rights to 11 people who haven't played a down as professionals, in fact who haven't even been in a pro camp yet. What exactly our we grading? How our picks measure up to Kiper's fantasies?

C, which is generous. That means nothing though. Can't evaluate nfl talent until they actually play in the nfl…

I'm nervous about the advice Bosa will give Mykel. "We typically end up playing alot of mobile QBs, so come crashing down and fall for the read option almost every time. You want to stay disciplined, you practices staying disciplined, but F that the QB will never keep it."
