fr how long is that list? I could only find one in the last 30 years other than James.

Derek Loville was a 3rd or 4th string back in Seifert's time. He wasn't drafted by the 49ers but he played for them for 3 seasons. Then in more recent times they tried LaMichael James who was a big disappointment after watching him in college. (I live inEugene so he was a big deal here). Kenyon Barner came in for a tryout but they didn't actually sign him. I always thought they shoukd have taken a shout on LaGarrette Blount. He was a bigger back that they coud have used in short yardage.

Yeah, LaMichael was the only one drafted in the last 30 years ... actually almost 40 years since he was 1986 I think. I remember Loville at Oregon but didn't think the 49ers drafted him. Blount I always thought was talented but had a nickel head ... thought it was funny when a guy named Blount got busted for pot.

I think they have had worse luck with Stanford players :)

People tend to do that when it comes to the 4th RB on the depth chart. Is he even going to be active on game days? I guess it depends on how much special teams work he's been getting in.

I think it's great that his first year he will be learning from CMC and Brj

Think he'll be solid since he was a 5th round pick. Usually the higher we draft a HB the more they suck and the lower the better they are

I devonte freeman is a good comp, though freeman was probably faster
Have there been any updates?

Blount was supposed to sign here as a UDFA after that draft but after they announced they agreed to a deal the Titans snuck in and offered him a better deal. I was so mad because I'm a Ducks fan and liked him a lot.

He's healthy. Just not being active on game day. I'm ok with that for now and hope it stays that way but the running game has to improve. Hopefully it happens as we start getting our skill players back.

There will be an update in about 8 months that he has been cut or traded

Doubt it. It's the same thing for Nick Martin as well. It's just not their time to shine yet. Aaron Banks was inactive most of his rookie season and barely got any snaps. He started for us every game he was healthy iirc since his second year until he was signed by GB in FA.

Some guys just have to wait cuz of the depth ahead of them.
