He's playing well I don't blame him for the penalties. Teams are definitely going to go at him.
He can do everything but cover
He's getting better, that DPI was BS

Yes, I thought his size would be an issue but so far so good.

K'waun Williams was very good for us at slot. Stout is about the same size.

he really, really reminds me of that Winfield guy when he was on the Bills.

Same kinda vibe to me, both looked extremely undersized in coverage but played with a chip on their shoulders. It was kinda like you took a dude way to small to play tampa 2 LBer, and moved him to NB. He has roughly the coverage skills of a linebacker, the tackling and pursuit of a LB...except...he is tiny by NFL standard.

We have watched tons of rookies get picked on over the years...really...truthfully... Stout is holding up better than most early on. We have all seen times and guys that we knew we cant win the game if they stay on the field...they were that picked on or that prone to PI deep. Upton is taking his lumps, but he is hardly the worst we have seen.

The craziest part in all of this..... this is the straight up Proto-type skill set to really run Steve Wilks nickel defense. Sure Stout is still a little two small...but this was exactly the mindset and skill set he wants at NB.

Glad we got the dude
Basically the situation with Stout hasn't changed. If he plays up and physical and disrupts timing and routes and can stay on a receivers hip he can make the QB look away, but if the QB throws to his man anyhow he's going to lose more 50-50s than most because of his size.

If the refs are against him he's going to lose.

I think we would take 50/50 because most slot receivers are pretty shifty. Plus we get interior help with our LBs and I do like Stouts willingness to make contact. He's going to make plays for us.

He's a rookie who got targeted just once in that game. The penalty was absolute BS and it was perfect coverage.

Not sure what you're talking about cuz if he couldn't cover every team would be throwing at him every time he's in coverage.

He only got targeted once? Didn't he give up a completion when he came down hard on his back?
Dude is a dawg! He makes rookie mistakes in coverage but I cant wait to see him progress through the season. Him and Sigle.

That's what PFF has for him. But typically I don't think they give zone targets to the corners. Why those stats are somewhat inconclusive.

I still firmly believe both of his critical penalties this season were BS!
