Yes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's an absolute powerhouse relative to his peers.

There were 10 DBs with shorter arms at the combine--all of whom outweighed Upton--he outbenched them all. In fact, Upton was the 3rd lightest DB at the combine, yet he outbenched every single DB there. Dude is a f**king bull.

I did say he was stout :)

10 of 60 DBs invited to the combine had arms 29.x" and shorter? Damn. That's the most surprising stat of the day.

I can only find 8 DB at the combine with shorter arms, and this doesn't help your argument ... ONLY 2 actually participated in the bench at the combine and both ended up in the top 10 overall in bench for DBS.

The fact that #2 in DB bench had 1 fewer lift with 2.5" longer arms is actually a little more impressive, but he's a BIG DB.

2 less lifts, 20lbs more. Not sure I'd describe that as more impressive.

The one I saw (think it was nfl.com) was 1 few lift. But I did qualify it as "a little" more impressive.

I know it's not as big a deal, my point was that it still matters, and some slot receivers are going to have tools to exploit his size.

If he's decent it means Demo moves outside is my guess.

Part of my concern is Saleh wasn't a bump scheme guy and my guess is Upton would be best playing very physical at the point.

Either way I'm excited to see what comes of this.

Yeah I mean you toss a big NCB in there like Oliver, he still can get exposed plenty.

stout actually has longer arms than Barron and damn near the same as Johnson…while being 2" and 4" shorter.

one NCB I wanted last yr was Mike Sainristil, DC grabbed him top of the 2nd. Damn near identical measureables. For me personally, if I'm taking a boundary CB early I need some sort of thresholds there as far as length and speed goes (there's always outliers)…above all I want that twitchy CB that has the mentality of being a dog. Willing tackler.

we will see how he goes, if he ends up as a K Williams type of NCB, that's a home run. I still feel like Demo should be out NCB though.

Just heard that he was suppose to transfer to Michigan and take over Mike Sainristil's spot, but Harbs left and he stayed at western Kentucky. IMO they're very similar players.

This kid has already taken the majority of 1st team snaps at Nickel, and he plays much bigger than he is. CB sacks are back on the menu fellas.

It seems he also has that heart and desire to learn, I think we have a good one here.

Stout is good in press man, not as good off ... I wonder what happens when the opponents scheme against him.

Hmm, a lot of the strengths highlighted prior to the draft were around off coverage

Seems like he's continuing to impress.
Love the dawg factor but that ties in with availability. I hope these kids stay healthy.

Shorter limbs make some injuries less likely. Quick twitch and light weight make some injuries more likely.

I wish we could find a way to reduce injuries more, but as training has become better players are closer to the absolute limits of what their bodies can do which means the margin to injury is smaller overall.
Just need him to be Jason Verrett without the injuries no big deal.
I'm glad he's playing really well and showing up well. My only concern would be his smallish size. But maybe like Honey Badger it doesn't matter with him. Just so quick, fast, instinctive, aggressive, hit harder than the size. All the stuff you see some of the guys do. For some the size doesn't matter as much. Hope that's the case for him.
i'd like to see a limited edition microbrew called upton stout and they can put you just got a dawg coach on the label i would pay money for that one of these local CA craft breweries should partner with upton
