I don't think people realize how big being 185 at 5'8" actually is. That's like being over 225 at 6'3". Dude is yoked.

yes. this is a new breed almost of nfl player. need the versatility to play in the slot and also to come up and play the run game. can't be shy also about playing outside if there is an injury mid game, the roles get shuffled around. we don't mind shorter dbs, we demand these guys be physical, with an F
Stout versatility in playing both slot and outside positional flex is a plus for SF secondary, but his best projections in a few scouting reports feel b/c of his size SF likely restricts him to primarily play in the nickel, With occasional outside reps in zone-heavy schemes.

(Scouting Report)

"His most likely path to NFL success involves landing with a defense that heavily employs zone coverage and can utilize his quick processing and tackling ability while minimizing his exposure in man coverage against bigger receivers. With additional value as a Blitzer. He flashes the ability to blitz effectively, bringing pressure on the quarterback or disrupting plays in the backfield.

Btw
Stout hasn't allowed a touchdown over the past two seasons on 409 coverage snaps. It helps when you're targeted just eight times, as he was in 2024. That's an indication of the respect he was given by opposing offenses.

In 2023: Stout was in the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List

I saw this cool stat about him
Key stat: Over the past two seasons, Stout has not allowed a touchdown as the nearest defender in
coverage on 409 coverage snaps. He was targeted just eight times last season. Stout is small but sticky in coverage and should have a chance to earn special teams snaps immediately while working to carve out a role on defense.

LETS DO IT, COACH! Let's do it!!

this guys really grown on me, TBH. I love his energy, confidence, and strength. Guys like this bring awesome energy to every play and even when he gives us a catch - he makes the offense work for it EVERY play - that wears guys down throughout the game. Especially if you're being physical with them. I think this guy will be a huge surprise to some.

Being targeted only 8 times in a season is pretty damn crazy I'm loving our young secondary outside of Brown hopefully he bounces back with Saleh seemed like he looked solid as a rookie then completely fell off

Im still holding out hope for brown. I loved him as a prospect when we drafted him. He's underwhelmed but let's see how he does under great coaching, with saleh.

Yes his energy will be an added plus to the rest of the team, I think that to play Defense, "You need more high motor type of Players" ..more than offensive players need to be, b/c offensive players have to be more cognizant of their play ,They need to contended with, Defensive pre-snap alignments, and they need to know what their particular assignments are for that particular play ,and they need to be ready in case the play is audibled and of course the cadence for that play.

But Defensive players after recognizing the alignment basically need to read and react and that's where the energy level of playing Defense, Is more emotional in a kind of way than for offensive players. Upton seems to use his high energy to help him play more aggressive, Which helps his defense play. " I think he has some of Malik Mustapha's physical and high energy level type of play that SF teaches and demands from their Def. Players" .

That is a good thing but can also be used against them, especially against very aggressive players ,to make them bite on play-action and draw type of plays. But overall is a good trait! When they start to learn and recognize Offensive tendencies in certain plays ,and learn more as their player development progresses, And they gain more experience.

btw Nick Martin falls in this category, It will be something to watch these 3 high motor dynamic players play and feed off each other during their careers playing together as Niner's !
