He lost damn near 30 lbs, no wonder he didn't look as big compared to pics last year in college. Hopefully he keeps adding more muscle and getting a lot stronger along the way. He could be steam rolling fools come playoff time / next season if he keeps at it.

If he's taking after Bosa like mentioned in that article he can certainly do that. 319 is pretty good for his size tho I'm sure most of us would take a weight for him that would make him a better pass rusher without turning him into a liability vs the run.

He weighed in a good 40 lbs more than Armstead and Buckner. Armstead turned into one of the best run defenders when healthy so Alfred has some room to get to that middle ground. If he continues to shadow Nick it can only mean good things for his career. Hope he sticks with it.

Absolutely! I hope he becomes a beast against both run / pass game
I can see he and Williams going to work on the sea chickens OL. Both of these young men seem to be very intelligent and know what their strengths are. And, I specifically remember Collins saying "the run WILL BE STOPPED.

Indeed! I hope CJ West is ready to go too, he also wants all that action. Watching Darnold get cooked AND cucked will be a great show
I'm fairly positive that it was Alfred Collins who faceplanted on a trap play. It was quintessential welcome to the nfl moment for Collins and a hard learning lesson for how offenses will use the wide 9's aggressiveness against itself.
How did he do yesterday?

Not good. I read he was ranked 62/63 by PFF. Atleast he was better than one other DT out there!

Watching live, I didn't really notice him at all

I know this isn't new information, but it's common for big DTs to take longer to adjust to the NFL regardless of where they are taken. Just from memory BJ Raji, Cam Hayward, and Linvil Joseph didn't start as rookies but had pro-bowl careers.

Missing OTAs and camp, playing a completely different game from what he did in college, and the limits placed on coaches working with players certainly don't help.

Collins is definitely behind where he'd be ideally, but that doesn't mean he was a bad pick yet.

I'm still wondering what the snap counts will be in several position groups.

Why draft guys who take longer if you are drafting for need? We got rid of guys and brought in this guys with a high second round pick to sit and watch, draft developmental prospects later in the draft. Did you see what the eagles did with their young DL prospects last year?
Collins got 9 snaps, 2 more than West.

Elliot got the most at 25 with Davis next at 24.

We also flexed Williams and Matos at iDL for pass rush situations quite a bit. So I'm not surprised to see limited snaps in a close game for Collins and West.

I'm sure that'll change in the near future.
