Part of that might be because Kalia Davis wasn't practicing.

Sounds very Kalia Davis.

Hes a red shirt rookie.

Badass

Right, nobody around here wanted the 49ers to draft Warren :)

The point I was trying to make is that according to the consensus board Warren was the best value at that pick and you have implied that taking the highest value player is how the Ravens have been so successful.

And the OBVIOUS major failings on the "consensus" board are that the teams are not part of the consensus which shows up when several teams admit a player would not have fallen anywhere close to where the "consensus" rated them, and because of things like Shadeur Sanders being #12 and not actually being picked until the 5th round. Mel Kiper Jr (who's big board/mock is as far as I can tell also not part of the "consensus") said it was disgusting that Sanders wasn't taken in the top 10. And yet here we are looking at the real possibility he will be cut tomorrow.

I would LOVE the teams to release their boards by NFL rule. Maybe they could do it 5 years later or something. They don't want to do it and hurt players feelings, but after 5 years most of them will be out of the NFL.

Highest player of position of need. The Ravens aren't drafting drake Maye at 11th overall. Let's have some common sense with our debates

there hasn't been a team since 2017 that has deviated at the highest rate (from consensus) in the 1st 3rds than SF, on avg taking someone 20 spots higher than the consensus big board…if you don't think there's a correlation between that and our s**tty drafts over the past couple seasons, well we will agree to disagree.

hopefully some of those guys in this past draft can change up the trend.

And some 49ers fans felt TE was a position of need.

I accept correlation ... not so much causation.

Build on it rook. All we can hope for. The physical tools are there. The mental and technical part just has to click. Despite what some said I don't see a lack of effort issue.

There may be a conditioning issue though which would go along with the injury during the early part of the offseason. Hopefully Collins keeps growing as a player quickly cuz we do need all these young guys to make big impact now. But I can also see a big jump from him into year 2.
He will look even better when he is getting one on one reps because our starting DEs are causing so much pressure on the QB the OTs need help. I remember Bryant Young out of college. He started every game for the Super Bowling winning team. His first few games he seemed decent, but nothing great. But as he got better throughout the season and by the end of the first season you could tell he was a star. I remember Madden saying Defensive Tackles have one of the toughest positions to transition from college to the pros and it usually takes 2 or 3 years for them to settle in. I have found that to be true. So if he is not all that great this season he will be still growing. I just hope to see improvement over the course of the season

Based off what? Kittle was one of the best TEs in football last yr and just signed a big fat extension.

no backup TE was not a position of need if we're actually gonna be objective in this debate.

Bryant Young was built much differently. He was 40lbs lighter and 3 inches shorter.

You know there were people on here calling to draft Warren.
Texans cut Trent Brown and are trying to trade Cam Robinson because Aireontae Ersery is ready to take over and start at LT (taken 5 picks after Collins)

So what, neither of them have played a real NFL game

He wouldn't start here.

Not too worried about Collins, he seems very coach-able, I think he will improve much quicker than what we saw with Kinlaw, (who seemed to get worse).

Trent can't move for our ZBS can he? He's more of a big immovable blob.
