I wonder if they envision Collins more as a 3technique with CJ West, who is a more natural 2i nose in the wide 9. There's definitely pass rush upside traits there with Collins. Maybe they project him to trim down a tad getting into the NFL and increase his athleticism.

I didn't want to say this because I saw the NFL.com profile also stated it, but Collins reminded me of a better run defending Kinlaw when I watched him during the process. 49ers put Kinlaw right away at the 3tech spot. Maybe that's the plan with Collins.
I think they picked him to be the 3t.

Guys, please take a moment to appreciate the coordination and balance on this rep(Collins vs #77). Reminder that this guy is 6-6, 330 pounds working the swipe and then going to a spin move as a counter all while staying on his feet. The burst for the finish. If you're not excited about this guy, I don't know what to tell you.

Man, I watched that Florida game, and watched it again once we got this guy. If we get that guy or better, this could be a home run pick.
he's like the larry allen of defense
People saying he is just a run stuffer are out of their dam minds. His size and athleticism is so rare. His pass rushing is raw, much like Mykel, but I think it'll come together under Kocurek.

He is a 3T imo

I think so too. And CJ West will be getting a pile of reps at NT

DE- Mykel Williams / Yetur Gross Matos
NT- CJ West / Evan Anderson
3T- Alfred Collins / Kevin Givens / Jordan Elliot
DE- Nick Bosa / Sam Okuayinonu

That's a pretty nice rotation

I gotta imagine we'll be working on a trade with the Eagles for Bryce Huff. Conditional 2026 draft pick. We need some speed on the edge, and we can't depend on Beal for that role.

Outside of that one move, let Williams and the young DT players feast / develop this year.

I think the lineup will be Alfred Collins at NT or 2i and CJ West at 3T. Watch Alfred Collins in college, he's primarily a 2i. Collins is often stood up due to his slow get off.

At this point that is exactly what he is; even he says so. But yes, I agree with you man; that size and athleticism is rare and if KK can put it all together

I would not enjoy being that QB on the other side looking directly at this damn beast

Will be interesting for sure. I think they will both be interchangeable and move around based on matchups

I hope we finally have a dominant DT to finally make up the loss of DeForest Buckner. Remember Chris Jones was also drafted in the 2nd round.
Think we start him and Williams? I think we might see them with limited snaps I get it you don't want to throw them out there in the fire but I'm not excited for our DL without them on the field
Alfred sacking Kyler is gonna be a sight to behold

Mykel's pass rush isn't raw imo. He's gotta have more opportunities to actually rush. I hope Collins cuts down his wieght a little and they let him loose.

They will both be at the very least base down DL day 1. So yes they will be starting.
