This team is starting to build a reputation of not only injuries year in and year out but hiding / down playing them as well. They knew Mustapha tore his ACL but only admitted it when it as time to practice and he wasn't available. Literally 3-4 months hiding it. Guaranteed they knew something was up with McCaffery last year but didn't report it till they couldn't deny it any more. It's concerning they haven't given an update yet given this pattern
It's not a 49ers issue. The 49ers are adhering to the NFL rules.
I don't know about hiding but the injury issue is highly concerning. This team for whatever reason can't stay healthy at key positions. Every year we suffer devastating losses of talent.. maybe it just seems like we are hit harder than other teams…I just know it hurts us every year. In the regular season and post season. Bad luck I guess.
Yeah, I remember in the 90s the Saints and Pelicans had lots of "bad luck" with injuries and it turned out they shared training staff. The Warriors had a run of pretty good health, lost some key members of their training staff and injuries got worse (they also got older).
I wonder if the 49ers need some new training staff? That said, the 49ers haven't had any significant injuries this year so the whole narrative is a little exaggerated.
I think the next CBA should add more off-season access to team training staff.
We've been over this issue before and nobody can say for sure why we see so many injuries. Personally I think players are just too big and ripped now. Many lose flexibiity when they get that bulked up.
Knee injuries have always been an issue but it seems like we see more soft tissue injuries now. They aren't usually career threatening but they can take a long time to heal. The NFL has enacted new rules tgat are supposed to cut down on injuries but there's only so much they can do. Some of the rules just end up causing different types of injuries.
