This team is starting to build a reputation of not only injuries year in and year out but hiding / down playing them as well. They knew Mustapha tore his ACL but only admitted it when it as time to practice and he wasn't available. Literally 3-4 months hiding it. Guaranteed they knew something was up with McCaffery last year but didn't report it till they couldn't deny it any more. It's concerning they haven't given an update yet given this pattern

It's not a 49ers issue. The 49ers are adhering to the NFL rules.

I don't know about hiding but the injury issue is highly concerning. This team for whatever reason can't stay healthy at key positions. Every year we suffer devastating losses of talent.. maybe it just seems like we are hit harder than other teams…I just know it hurts us every year. In the regular season and post season. Bad luck I guess.

Yeah, I remember in the 90s the Saints and Pelicans had lots of "bad luck" with injuries and it turned out they shared training staff. The Warriors had a run of pretty good health, lost some key members of their training staff and injuries got worse (they also got older).

I wonder if the 49ers need some new training staff? That said, the 49ers haven't had any significant injuries this year so the whole narrative is a little exaggerated.

I think the next CBA should add more off-season access to team training staff.

We've been over this issue before and nobody can say for sure why we see so many injuries. Personally I think players are just too big and ripped now. Many lose flexibiity when they get that bulked up.

Knee injuries have always been an issue but it seems like we see more soft tissue injuries now. They aren't usually career threatening but they can take a long time to heal. The NFL has enacted new rules tgat are supposed to cut down on injuries but there's only so much they can do. Some of the rules just end up causing different types of injuries.

Actually….they weren't the pelicans until 2012 nor were they in New Orleans during the 90s

Stupid 95.7 twitter account made it sound the worst possible and it was the first notification I saw on the injury(they deleted the tweet).

Still...we're just so damn cursed with injuries you never know even when guys walk off the field. Hopefully they give us a good update soon.

Out of curiosity I pulled down a list of injured players by team. We have 25!

Hope the knee is healing up good. I would really like to see him out there and see what he is made of. But with just 2 preseason games to go I don't want him reinjured. Healthy for the season is most important. I wanted him to get some reps. But being ready for the start of the season is now most important.

At this point generally with injuries on this team, I'd be happy if he doesn't roll up to the sideline in a wheelchair week 1.

It would probably take you less time to google his injury status than to bold all those letters.
Last I heard was a simple hyperextension and a week then re-evaluate.

Hope it is something simple & can just get him ready for week 1 now

Exactly, no need to rush him back. Just rest him maybe get some reps in last practice/preseason game before the start of the season but don't play him even if he's cleared.
He could practice again this week. Could we see him on Saturday or nah?

Don't let this get to your head, because for the first time ever I chuckled at one of your nicknames, since that's what FORD stood for. Good job.

I sure hope we don't play him. Nothing to gain from it imo. I just hope his situation ends up being like Bosa as a rookie who missed all of the preseason games cuz of an ankle injury. He played in every game that rookie season and we went to the SB where he was arguably the best player on both sides.

Doubt Mykel can get to that level or whether the team overall can match that but the key are games that matter. Make sure he's good for those.
