To be fair, he's just talking about his physicality ... that's a factor, but his drive to get better every day, to lead, and ability to stay healthy ... those are what made Buckner special.

Ithink after the Drake Jackson and Trey Lance failures, they are over high traits guys that never produced.

Huh? Drake Jackson was drafted 4 spots ahead of the top 3rd rd. value slot. All teams take gambles on athletes around then.

I'm aware he was drafted 61st overall. I'm also aware that there are viable, NFL ready players who are less of a project at that point. I totally get their rationale for doing it. And based on recent results and being burned, it makes sense that they've gone for guys who are more likely to contribute immediately as opposed to high traits guys who didn't show it in college. It's the reason why we went Williams over say a Shenar Stewart, who some posters feared we would draft.

ShanaLynch's gambles never pay off.

Can't really say that though. It's just the misses get a lot more talk than the hits.

He has some big hits, but of those, which were actually gambles?

To a degree, every NFL pick is a gamble though.

....which is why we're so interested as fans. This stuff always comes full circle.

And his size and strength is comparable.

Kittle, Warner, Bosa, Aiyuk, Puni, Lenore, Jennings, McKivitz. No longer with the team, but still winners: Greenlaw, Deebo. Lots of winners. Great trade/fa pickups in McCaffrey and Williams. Also great young prospects from last year in Green, Mustafa, Garendo, and Pearsal.
Sounds like Mikyel has been showing his best on the interior so far. I'm excited to see how he looks with the pads on tomorrow but still great to see him showing good things even if not on the edge yet.

I know Alfred Collins is a little behind cuz he missed OTAs but need him to shine as well.

Get that pass rush unit of Bosa, Collins, Williams and Huff out there to hunt QBs.

I wouldn't consider the last pick of the draft a gamble.

No, but I would call letting go of the 3rd overall pick and giving Purdy the keys to the kingdom a huge gamble!
So about that Mykel Williams kid. Anyone else excited for the pads to go on today to see the DL work?

Can't wait till the 9th. There's so much to look for on that line.
