My argument was great pass rushers. You use good run defenders

Gotcha so you are saying that he is a great pass rusher and they should never use creativity to get after the quarterback.

Floyd walked into 8.5 sacks this past season. No one was calling him a plus edge rusher this past season. Sacks are overrated, but fun to talk about.

I'm not saying Williams is a gonna be a day 1 sack master, he will plus addition to this DL and has the ability to be a damn good pass rusher as long as he's coachable and stays healthy.

Yeah, a lot of fans act like sacks are the only way to disrupt a play or stop a play. Lol Floyd had 8.5 and dude wasn't all that disruptive.

having a player like Williams, who can line up next to Bosa or across from Bosa, and cause havoc on a play is a huge plus. Then plug in two DL between them to clog the middle and free up backers and stop run - now we are talking, especially with some of
the guys length.

sacks are sexy and we love to see them but there is sooo much more to playing defense than just getting sacks.
Clowney would be a damn good depth signing to pair with Mykel. I hope Lynch makes it happen now that he's a FA again.

Agreed. Would also be nice to have a vet like Clowney who is still disruptive on the edge to go along with the young talent on this DL like Mykel.

Depends on the price. Would he be willing to take a lower price 1 or 2 year deal at this stage of his career.

Didn't we try to get him before but he wanted too much?

Clowney is more like Campbell than you realize. No thanks.

One of the best defensive minds in NFL history thought sacks were extremely overrated. Sure they're great and you want your team being able to get them but pressures and even ability to collapse the pocket and move the OL back in key moments can result in a better result for your team.

Close down the QBs throwing lanes or get him to throw off balance passes and your odds of turnovers go up. We got some speed in the secondary now. Let the big boys up front crush the pocket and see if we can get a bunch more turnovers coming our way.

Yeah I saw John Chapman say that as well. We wouldn't be signing him to be a starter and DL rotation is pretty important. Campbell came in with absurd expectations and clearly didn't care.

Clowney had the issue with Cleveland...but who hasn't?

Exactly. He's a mercenary, but I've never heard about him being a problem in the locker room. He'd be a decent depth signing to compete with Mykel and YGM. He's still a damn good player.

I said to myself "everyone is buying Patrick Willis jerseys. I'm going with a Manny Lawson one!"

And that's one reason why I no longer buy active 49er player jerseys anymore.

Kap is the other lol. Got his when he was a rookie.

I'm not jinxing another 49er again!

Same my brother said he was getting Willis and I can't have him so I chose Vernon Davis. I begged him for a Taylor May's Jersey for my birthday but he said he's not going to buy a player thats not proven. Afterwards I understood and do the same. Have Davis ended up getting a Willis myself along with Young, Montana, Rice, and my favorite a black burgundy and gold M&N Lott
