Would our team be better if Bosa asked to rush from the inside on 3rd downs? Would the Browns or Cowboys be better teams if Garrett/Parsons asked to move over the guard on 3rd downs?

If only he had the confidence in himself as many of you do

It's up to the 49ers to figure out where Bosa and Williams are best on 3rd down but as has been discussed in here and many other places, QBs prefer outside pressure.

On a key 3rd down to win the SB, maybe the smart thing would be to have your best pass rushers on the field with emphasis to creating interior pressure. Mykel answered in a way to help us win football games. That's pretty refreshing IMO and I'd rather have a guy who is looking to do whats best for the team's success vs individual accolades.

That first rep, tho. That's a beautiful sigh to behold. One of Mykel's weaknesses on tape was that he struggled to take a tight track to the quarterback after he's beaten his man. Love seeing him get that inside foot down and pointed towards the QB. Him dipping, getting low and turning on a dime is exactly what you want to see him improving. This kid is going to be good. I predict that doubters and haters will be in shambles.

The fact that he himself asked John to move inside on 3rd downs only adds fuel to us "haters and doubters". Tells me he knows he's not 11th pick worthy pass rusher.

From what I've seen, I predict he'll never have a 10+ sack season for us.

Ah, the good ol' what ifs. None of us know what he's thinking. It's just our own opinions on the matter.

Just because a guys said he likes to rush from the interior, doesn't mean he can't or shouldn't rush from the outside…the "haters" reaching on a quote lol. Oh god, how negative to have a guy that's willing to rush the passer from inside or outside 😱 how dare we use him in mismatch opportunities!

anyone saying he can't rush from outside is stat scouting imo. I see a pass rush plan and all the god given tools to be a damn good edge rusher. Dude isn't a finished product, shocking for a 20 yr old

Plus, dudes like Arden Key ate in this defense from moving inside on passing downs. I also think, that collapsing the pocket, even if it doesn't result in a personal sack, often results in a blown up play or sack for someone else.

Mykel is much stronger, bigger and longer than Key was as well. Arden was more of a speed rusher at LSU.

Floyd walked into 8.5 sacks this past season. No one was calling him a plus edge rusher this past season. Sacks are overrated, but fun to talk about.

I'm not saying Williams is a gonna be a day 1 sack master, he will plus addition to this DL and has the ability to be a damn good pass rusher as long as he's coachable and stays healthy.

My argument was great pass rushers. You use good run defenders

I like what he brings to the table. That is one thing we've been missing. I just don't think he'll ever be a good pass rusher. Also don't think what he does bring to the table was worth the 11th pick. I do think he'll be adequate at what he does.

Provide context. Why don't you think he'll ever be a good pass rusher? Help us understand why you think that.

I'm sure it has a lot to do with his sack totals in college though I'll let him speak for himself.
He doesn't work outside on 3rd downs because he saves that for 4th down.

You know he's only going to get stronger too, with professional trainers and a NFL weight program. His long arm move is gonna be a good one, I've seen him do it, he just needs to use it more often. His go to pass rush move is the one Bosa excels at, and he really just needs a good counter and a plan of attack. All teachable stuff. What you cannot teach is 6'5" 260+ pounds with an "83 inch wingspan and 10 5/8" hands.

Yup, hero touched on his pass rush moves. Just needs refinement and more opportunities.

I heard him talking about how he was wrestling in the 280 weight class in HS (he was 250lbs). Kid is strong as s**t and built to play DE in the NFL.
