His frame and size reminds me of two former players that did very well for us! Lean Mean Freddy Dean, and Charles Haley. We would all be thrilled if he turned out to either!

The more I watch some analyst compare Walker to Parsons I'm just hoping the Niners took the right guy. But then again I guess if they needed more of a run stopper instead of a QB sacker then I suppose they took the right player?
This sorta reminds me of the draft when NC State had Mario and Lawson on the same team. Texans took Mario and the 49ers took Lawson.

Yeah, I don't see Manny Lawson at all. Lawson was 240 and as I remember it, more of a rush lb than pure DE. I also don't remember Manny being as much of an edge setter as Mykel appears to be. Mykel as seems a lot stronger and tougher that Manny was. I remember him getting pushed around a lot.

Maybe but that would be a luxury pick and would be weaker against the run

not saying it would've been a bad pick but we would've been forced to pick an additional edge player that can set the run

Walker isn't Parsons. Walker is not as powerful as Parsons was coming out of PSU. He's just not a thick in the lower half.

Walker isn't gonna be down on the LOS as much as Parsons is. He's basically a full time EDGE now. With Walker you're gonna have to get creative with him. He's more Nolen Smith and that's more than fine, that ain't Parsons though.

I didn't want a DE at #11 I wanted a DT bad, but if they took one I was hoping it was Mykel Williams and not Shemar Stewart or Jalon Walker. I just thought if anyone could complement Nick Bosa it was Mykel Williams out of the three.

I had a similar idea pre draft where we take 2 great DTs in rounds 1 and 2

We would have a big hole at DE that way but I was curious how it would go with 3 dominant run defenders in Bosa + DT1 + DT2

The 49ers leaned even harder into that idea and swung for the fences by adding one of the few DEs who also fit that puzzle

Our entire starting 4 DL will all be good/great against the run with Bosa + West giving good/great pass rush and Collins/Williams giving average/good pass rush

I can't wait to see how the trench battle ends up every game

Lawson played in our 3-4 and transitioned to OLB. Walker is a not a good fit for the wide 9. great player, but Williams is perfect for the wide 9.
