Campbell to the Eagles really sucks. So does Simmons being scooped up in KC.

Depends on how healthy Simmons is. He had the same injury that ended Richburg's career. There's no guarantee that he's ever back to 100%. There's still a lot of skepticism that he'll be ready to go for Week 1.

They put themselves in the situation to try though. Moore can hold it down while Simmons recovers, and means they don't have to entertain extending Taylor.

They're just a better ran franchise to us and we have to accept it. If we believed in Purdy enough he'd be signed to an 8 year + deal so we can mess with his cap hits like the Chiefs have done.

Fair enough they gambled and won with Mahomes, but they had the foresight to evaluate him properly.

Our Front office are too stubborn and unwilling to be flexible on their pre conceived notions.

The chiefs and Andy Reid were both close, but no cigar until finally stumbling onto Mahomes and finding success. OUr coach and GM combined haven't had as many years at their positions as Reid has had. You sound silly whining like this man. This is one of the top franchises in NFL, quit acting like a browns fan, lol.

Hell no to Sawyer, but yes I like Jackson in that role. They are banking that we can get more pass rush out of him, and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. For me that's too much of a risk, but I hope they're right.

Well Kriz, at least we both knew they wouldn't give us what we wanted! It was always going to be about tonight, this is where to separate ourselves. Couple of Day 3 gems would be lovely too.

I like Williams for what he is. We do need what he brings. 11 too early for me on an edge setter. I do agree with everyone that at worst he'll be great at that. I'm just not a "he's only 20" kind of guy. We traveled that road once before.

As for given us what we wanted. I wanted Barron but was perfectly fine with Nolen or Harmon. Heck, wouldn't have hated Grant.

He definitely brings what we need. Can't wait til he's 23

When we say he's only 20, it's to emphasize that even at 18 he was balling out in the SEC; not at juco. Respected by his teammates, present and former (read what Jalen Carter had to say). He won the staff over with film, measurables and immeasurables.

John kept using the word "convicted". In the zoom with the reporters last night, his eyes lit up when talking about playing in a wide 9; almost as if he can now have the freedom to play in his best position. He said he can't wait to ask Bosa questions.

This is not just some 20 year old or one that thinks they've made it.

good to see brock already hooked him up with the toyota

I'm pretty sure Toyota has a deal with the NFL and probably specific nfl teams. Advertising partnership

Yeah this isn't some 20 year old who hasn't done anything but has measurable that could turn into something. Hes a 20 year old that's balled out at the highest levels (he can) and still has so much room to get better.

Georgia played him like he was Justin smith under harbaugh - all over the line to benefit his teammates.

I have no problem with the pick. I'm not sure what his ceiling is but I think he will be serviceable and have a long career at the very least. My one head scratcher is the FO saying they wanted to move down to get him. I dunno, I trust Saleh but I just dont think Williams was worthy of more assets than an 11. He very well could've fell in the 20's.
They tried to trade up to get him, not down.

TBH, I don't know if I buy that.

Of COURSE Lynch is gonna say "we wanted him so badly we were willing to trade up for him!" doesn't mean they were actually going to.

Williams' career pass rush pressure rate is barely above 10%. The average college football defensive end reaches 9 or 10% pressure rate every single year. Typical first-round prospects at the defensive end almost always post pressure rates above 12%, and usually, their peak pressure years come in above 16%. Williams was never that consistent in bringing pressure.

Williams also has struggled with missing tackles throughout his career (over 16% of the time last year, according to PFF) and has never logged more than six sacks in a season, despite all of his hype. Yes, the injuries he was playing through last season impacted his performance at times, but Williams just never put it all together with an elite showing.

So he can't rush the passer and misses tackles at 16% clip?

Sounds like this wasn't one of your guys

Did Lynch say that? I heard it on the talk shows this morning. They tried to trade up ahead of Carolina, but Carolina ended up picking the WR guy instead.

I don't care at all about numbers, I watched a player on his own team who I think is a better player and a better pass rusher. I don't care that he wouldn't have been able to set the edge on base downs as a full time end. I'd have found other work for him.

They might be right, I've just stopped automatically assuming that they are.

That's the thing, they clearly do. They're hoping for both from Mykel. I also easily see them double dip on the position tonight or tomorrow.

I highly doubt Kyle would involve his wife in a lie.

Yeah he told Mykel that when he called him to tell him he was the pick. It's in the video.

I didn't want him early on because imo he needs more time to develop, but as we got closer it was becoming clear he could be the bpa meets need, vs this drafts depth, etc pick.
All 3 ot went top 10 and Graham as well. Harmon would have been fine by me, but edge is more premium and this is a deep dt draft. This was a solid pick and not a reach.

It was reported that the 49ers were one of the teams trying to move up even before the pick was made. Now whether or not you believe that they were trying to move up for Williams is up to you but before the draft he was strongly linked to the Saints and a lot of people expected him to go at #9.

Carolina and the saints - I think what threw it all off was the WR pick by the panthers. I'm glad it did though - the more I've looked into this, I really like the Williams pick. So much room to grow but such an excellent foundation to bookend with bosa.
