I might be in the minority with my thinking here; but as the #11 overall draft pick, Mykel himself should be the "better" player that makes the sack numbers go up. It really does freaking suck that he got hurt and couldn't work on his game this offseason

It blows, but I think they've softened the damage with the moves they've made this offseason. I expect Osa and Helton to be crushing it as interior rushers so much that we'll forget about Mykel.

Mykel's breakout year is 2027, IMO. Sucks but it is what it is.

Yessir!!! Man, Osa and Helton will be so freaking fun to watch wreak havoc. I expect leaps from West, Collins and even Valdez.

The good thing with Mykel is that he's still young. Is he younger than our entire draft class?

Yeah, crazy. He's not even 22 yet.

Some of our current rookies are 3 years older than him LOL

Rest assured he's not. Drake Jackson sucked at everything; Mykel is dominant against the run.

I just want the kid to be healthy and doing what he did last year in run defense. I don't expect a giant leap as a pass rusher because he spent the offseason rehabbing.

Not that there is ever a good time for an injury but his really sucked, because of this last point you made.

I still wonder if the the sack numbers go up just because of opportunity from the better players and depth around him.

He was though. Even after Nick went down while our pass rush took a hit while Mykel was out there pushing bodies around not only was our run D quantifiably much better but our pass rush was better as well. Bryce Huff didn't have a single sack after Mykel went out. Also had 22 of his 46 pressures in the 10 games he played without Mykel. He had 24 in the 7 games he played with Mykel.

Obviously it's not a perfect comparison since there were times Huff wasn't on the field with Mykel(he was out there for 3 of the 4 sacks Huff had) but Mykel was definitely helping guys get to the QB and hopefully continues to do so while adding his own pass rush development so he can help himself close.
