Guys take the Walter Nolen talk to another thread please. Mykel is not a finished product and this thread should be for him, not who else we could've drafted.

Things are not looking good for Mykel. He could very well end up being the new Tank Carradine.
Underwhelming by whose standards?
3rd most pressures in this rookie class. Terrific vs the run and helped guys rush the passer around him after turning 21 a month before training camp.
Tank Carradine didn't play any NFL snaps until he turned 24. We don't know what Mykel will be, especially after his knee injury but given his age and what he's shown so far pretending "things are not looking good" is a completely unfounded statement to make.
Some of the comparisons you guys make on here are completely ridiculous.

Meniscus tears are a big deal. Especially at his size.
Depends on the severity and location . Based off what they said he it won't have any impact on his future and returning 100%
I tore my left meniscus in 2020. Then waiting on surgery I tore my right one.
It wasn't a complete tear and they still hurt and ache every single day. to this day. I have no mobility and can barely bend down or walk down stairs. I'm fit, strength train every day and weigh 280.
My knees will never be the same.

You also aren't a pro athlete with access to the same doctors and physical therapists. I also dont know how old you are or your medical history. All of this matters.

Two completely different players, Williams is not a pass rushing edge player.
Williams is a edge setting DE that is what he has to offer, everyone knew that when he was drafted.

You are speaking rather callously about our young draft pick
This is where Koldo shines. Something bad happens and he's right there to stir the pot with hyperbole

Underwhelming given what you would expect from a borderline top 10 pick.

I wouldn't call that hard data.

- NFL Pick 'em
Let's not forget John Lynch tried trading up to #7 to draft Mykel. Thank god.

Where is the hyperbole?
Maybe the Tank comparison is not the best one, but the truth is that Mykel hasn't lived up to the expectations and this injury will only make it an even harder uphill battle for him to have an impactful career in the NFL.

How can Williams be judged off half a season when 3 of the other D line players have been injured. He was playing fine when lined up next to Bosa. They had Huff coming off the other edge. Then Bosa went down. So did Davis. Then Collins. Not saying those two werer great but they were better than what we see now. This allowed teams to double team Williams when they neede to.
He was moved around the D line so he was learning to play different spots. When they drafted him they saw him as an edge setter and run stopper that might eventually develop into a better pass rusher. With the injuries to other linemen he's been forced into a roll that wasn't intended for him. Now he's gone for the rest of the year so he'll need to spend time rehabbing instead of developing his technique.

I think WIlliams had a solid rookie year that would be even better if he were playing with Bosa and Huff. He put on his big boy pants and manned up the last several games without those guys. Sadly what we will get in 2026 is like an extended rookie year and it sucks that he had to have this kind of injury, this late in the season. The only positive is rehabbing with Bosa. Looking forward to seeing what he can bring with a full D-line room.

He wasn't a top 10 pick and who sets the standard for them anyways?
JJ Watt a HOF level stud had 2 sacks in his first 9 games. He finished the season with 5.5 sacks. I'm sure if he got hurt similar to Mykel at that point in his rookie season guys like you would be calling him underwhelming too.
I'm not expecting Mykel to turn into a JJ Watt but the point is how guys start their careers isn't how they finish them. Not everyone comes out like Aldon Smith.
And 3rd most pressures regardless. If you want to look at his sack totals and claim he's not doing anything in the passing game that's simply not accurate.
And you may not call it hard data but anyone who actually watches the trenches play saw his impact and I hope it doesn't show up in us playing without him.
