Williams has the size and strength to do that.

Good pick. He will get his numbers with a healthy ankle and in the 49er system, not to worry.

So we got a run stopper at #11 overall. Not sure if that's good or makes sense.

Are you reading the thread? Have you been listening and watching what people have said about Williams and why the 49ers wanted him and not a much smaller guy who did not stop the run very well in college?

Nick Bosa didn't get a lot of sacks this season but he has a rep for being one of the best run-stoppers of all the so-called pass-rushing Edges. In that regard, Williams could be a Bosa clone.

Stop reading your own narrative into what others are saying.

If he was a Bosa clone he'd go before Abdul Carter lol

Good run stopper with pass rush potential. Were picking number 11 in a weaker draft, gotta take who you feel will make an impact. If we have even an average run defense last year it would've helped our atrocious 3rd down defense.

Not to be nit-picking, but he did rush the passer well. He just didn't have a lot of numbers to show it because (1.), he had a bad ankle much of the year, as others have said, (2.) Georgia had a heavy rotation that limited his opps.

He will be fine.

Read my post more closely.

The clone statement was in regards to the style of play - an Edge that can both set the edge, AND rush the passer. IN THAT REGARD...
Good pick. Coming off ankle injury that plague him all season. Could be the next Aldon Smith. Has the same physical makeup as Aldon had coming out in 2011. Huge hands and tremendous wingspan.

I get that but there are tons of guys in the NFL that do that, Bosa is arguably one of the best. I mean I'd love if he turns into a Bosa clone but I don't think that's quite a realistic comp. Hope you are right though 😉
Deiter and Hutch are f**king stoked about this pick 😂
What more can you ask? Known for his run defense and high upside as a pass rusher. It's something we absolutely needed. Whooped Kelvin Banks (although I thought KB was absurdly overrated TBH)..
Almost 35 inch arms and 83 inch wingspan.

Trent Baalke somewhere:

This dude looks slow and stiff.
not being able to stop the run was miserable last season. I'm glad this is the priority, everything we do on defense starts there. Keep going, this is 49er football. Physical.

Now all we need is a badass DT or two and this defense will have an excellent foundation. Throw in some quality vets and we are good!

would be nice if Drake Jackson flourishes this year too. Lol would be a nice surprise
Dudes 20 was one of the best run defenders in the draft and he's only going to get stronger with age with the potential of becoming a great rusher. I'd take that over say Jalon Walker that I don't think has the potential to ever be a great run defender. The only bad thing you can point to is that he hasn't had double digit sacks.
