Judging by the press conference, it sounds like their preferred DB choice was snatched in front of them. Probably one of Parrish, Williams, Watts or Smith.

youre just fallaciously making an appeal to authority...the same coaching staff reached for cam latu in the third when many pundits were openly saying its a huge overdraft and he might go undrafted...cam latu not only did not log a single nfl snap to this day, he couldnt get a roster spot over some mediocre backup TEs

That was really bad. The Latu, TDP, and Sermon picks were awful. In their defense, none of the picks since last year come off as that terrible and it's not because of the draft rankings. These guys now have shown it against legit competition, either on tape or senior Bowl practices.
