He said before the draft that this would be the case due to financial constraints. And that's why they haven't signed anybody of any significance. That's pretty transparent.

Here's a transparent fact for you. If you thought the 9ers run of signing anyone they wanted the past four years like a kid in a candy store would never end, well sorry, you don't need John or Jed to tell you it couldn't continue. If we can shake off BA I think we are good for the next chapter. Greenlaw is my only wish but..

I mean it could...it's just money. Owners just decided they are done paying money out...typical Yorks.

That sounds like a you problem.
Why not bring up the Rams? They did almost the EXACT same thing heading into 2023
Their 2022 starting DL was
A'Shawn Robinson
Aaron Donald
Greg Gaines
Leonard Floyd
Justin Hollins/Terrell Lewis
The guys in bold weren't on the team going into 2023...and you don't think there's a comparison to be made?

That's the point. With the draft ahead, you do not give away information. Also, I have no idea why people think they have a right to information about a team. They make public what they want. And, unlike Baalke, this team does not leak and I like that.
If they were dislosing everything then fans would be complaining that they're leaking too much info.

this. this is the price for having the highest paid player at like 10 positions the last few years. NFL fans have been saying, "the 49ers don't have a salary cap," as a joke in response to our signings and extensions. I think we'll be just fine.

Yeah it's a me problem going into next season with our entire DL decimated
you didn't name any players outside of Bosa just named a bunch of Rams back in 22. Hope we bounce back but acting like it'll be fine our DL will just miraculously come together is wishfully thinking. We haven't been able to give Nick Bosa a legitimate pass rusher to pair with since 2019 when we traded Buckner and Dee Ford was a flash in the pan. You really think we are going to have a dominant DL with what we have? Maybe if we land Mason Graham I'll be more optimistic going into 2026 but going into this season our DL looks disgusting

I named the Rams starters to show you why the comparison is 100% valid.
As for our players if you can't name Evan Anderson, Sam O(i'm not even gonna attempt to spell his last name from memory), Jordan Elliott, Kalia Davis and Kevin Givens who has been with the team for years now...that's a you problem and you're just reminding us that you're a casual fan. It's ok nothing wrong with it but you claimed 90% of people here can't name these guys and I doubt that's the case.
And once again...the season isn't starting tomorrow. The Rams didn't go into their 2023 season with just Aaron Donald. If you can't acknowledge the similarity then I don't know what to tell you man.

They aren't going to publicly provide details of their plans, especially their draft plans.
Lynch has already been transparent enough. They had their foot on the accelerator for the past few years, and now they need to let off and re-calibrate. Most beat writers predicted Huf, Ward, Banks, and Greenlaw walking in FA, Hargrave cut, and 50-50 chance of Deebo departing.
The two main FA target signings were Drew Dalman (signed by the Bears) and Jamien Sherwood (re-signed by the Jets). Outside of that, they predicted it was going to be a fairly quiet off-season.
This ain't madden. They made the right call not signing those vets you highlighted as they aren't material upgrades vs. what we current have or potential candidates in the draft.
These are billionaire owners going cheap because they appear to be more interested in other investments at the moment. Sucks but you can't fire the owners....
This is not a financial decision that forces our hand it's one that our owners have decided to take while still raising ticket prices.
Sorry, but this is not about being a billionaire. The cap is a reality. They rolled the dice one more year last year. The commentary around having a QB on a rookie contact was real. Meanwhile, several FA's that moved on were injured a lot. The majority of those contracts were simply too high for the value. This team needed to restock and get younger. They will build things out, perhaps pick up a discarded piece or two from another team post draft, and (hopefully) set themselves up for another 3 years run.

Wish I had the rose colored glasses you have. Off the top of my head only players I could think of is Evan and Drake Jackson, great DL room we are heading into the season with
along with greenlaw gone both our pass rush and run defense looks horrendous. You can point at the rams all you want but the fact is to flip this and have a dominant unit by 2026 is wishful. Might not be fair to ask sense we still need to see how the draft pans out but how you feeling about our front 7 going into 2025? Bet it's not hopeful

It has nothing to do with rose colored glasses. I'm no proclaiming we're going to be the #1 defense with those guys and going to win the SB.
I'm simply explaining to you why the Rams comparison is incredibly similar...all the way to releasing Leonard Floyd to relying on rookie DLmen to start. And I'm also challenging your notion that 90% of fans here can't name any of our DLmen outside of Bosa. It's not like you're talking about rattling off the practice squad or every future contract we signed at the end of the season.
These are players who actually played decent snaps for us last year and in the case of Givens, someone who has been on the roster since 2019. I'm not saying they're elite players, just that non casual fans should certainly know who they are.
Drake Jackson btw is probably never going to play for us, if anyone ever again. A young player missing virtually 2 straight seasons is a bad omen for his future in this league.

This is a rebuild. And a bid to get the finances straight. Deebo and Aiyuk never should have been give $25 - $30m contracts. Kyle has seen the light and is trying to fill the cupboard with the horses he needs. Unfortunately, the cupboard is damn near bare. He is looking at speed on the offensive edges and in the backfield along with bigger, stronger RB's. He needs an OL who can keep Brock upright. And run block. And we know what is needed on defense. Having said all that, it will take more than a year to get this team to its winning ways again. So, be patient. It's going to be a tough road ahead.

Cap is a reality and we weren't dying over it. It was just a decision made by the team to cut the fat and not resign valuable players at market cost but to roll with cheaper F/A's and unproven draft picks. I believe it was done not because we couldn't afford it on the cap but rather because our owners have decided they are done with free spending contracts for this team for the time being. A wealthy owner who wants to invest in their team doesn't care about paying money out and will spend to win a Championship. People say look at the rams but they literally did have a salary cap issue after their SB victory. They spent the money and draft picks to win one and did and then they had to reset or face cap hell this team was not in that same predicament. If Jed really wanted to keep Greenlaw he never would have hit F/A.

Real question is then how many years does Kyle get here without a championship? 10, 15... In all honesty he probably has a safe gig as long as the money keeps rolling in for the Yorks but as soon as revenue starts to drop...
