LoL y'all are funny Trade him 😂
More like Purdy is gonna be traded once the dust settles. Then Mac will take Purdy's little money bag and be the Niners franchise QB. Kyle loves him some Mac & Cheese 😁

IF he continues to play this way, I can see that happen. There was a good portion of the fanbase that was all over Alex Smith's nuts, and couldn't stomach Kaepernick taking over his job. But Harbaugh made the right call in making the transition. Kaep gave us a better chance to win than Alex did.

If Mac Jones can execute the offense better than Brock, you go with the better hand regardless of the contract.

We lost Darnold after one season. We'll probably lose Jones as well if he has a couple more games like this. Someone will offer him more money and a chance to start. This is why I keep advocating for a change in the NFL that exempts QB salaries from ther cap so teams can afford to pay more for a good backup.

I hope someone offers him a contract in the off-season because that would be an easy tampering charge and a free draft pick.

Mac signed a two year deal, so he's locked up for this and next year.
Repurposed my Jimmy G jersey haha.

I understand that he can't just leave but most teams will release or trade a backup QB if he requests it. If they were offered a 2nd or 3rd round pick by a team that was going to draft in the top 10 then they would probably do it. Then they're back to having to groom another backup. If they were able to offer him more money to stay he wouldn't be as likely to ask for a trade.

What a gutty performance by Mac. Short time to prepare for a start and he comes out balling with the backup WRs/TEs. Multiple tight window throws and took care of the ball. I only remember one pass that was put in harm's way. I think him keeping it simple by being quick to checkdown to CMC helps the offense so much.
24 catches for CMC in Mac's three starts. Don't know how many of those were checkdowns, but by using CMC in the passing game, it keeps the drive on schedule. The drive that led to the 59 yard field goal was clutch, starting at their own 2 yard line with the short passing game taking over for the ineffective run game.
Man ESPN is so funny. No. There is no QB controversy. There is, however, assurance that the 49ers can rest Purdy a little longer and probably still be okay.

If Purdy plays like he has been playing when he comes back, there could be one depending on wins and losses and where we stand in a playoff race.

He will have to play better to calm the noise.
Pretty clear that Mac Jones is perfect for the system. Niners gonna have a real hard time finding what to do with him once Purdy comes back.

Extension of the running game. It's what I was saying in the Brock thread…it's completely fine to take those "checkdowns" on 1st and 2nd down. Move the ball and it will open other things up, helps everyone get in rhythm, helps the OL, helps the QB. I would like Kyle it get the other RBs involved in the passing game as well

With more two deep coverage shells, the running game and short passing game is where teams need to attack as defenses look to take away explosives.

The Two-High Revolution Continues
The most significant trend shaping modern NFL defenses remains the proliferation of two-high safety looks. According to Next Gen Stats, the percentage of two-high safety formations on passing attempts has dramatically increased from 44% in 2019 to 63% in 2024, and this trend shows no signs of slowing in 2025.

This signing could have saved our season. Dude is efficient and confident. Wouldn't take anything less than a 2nd rounder next offseason for him but happy to have him backup two years and a comp pick later.

It did, with Purdy out indefinitely, we would have been so screwed. Now we got Mac and an easier schedule to boot. And can give Purdy all the time he needs to heal. Could not have turned out better given the circumstances. Great signing and a steal on top of that. Bucs next, should be a challenge but doable.

Pretty clear they should of drafted Mac instead of Trey
