49ers sign QB Mac Jones

It's not that hard to find retread backup QBs if you have advance notice. Rourke is learning now, if he's not going to work out I suspect Caleb Williams will be available soon :)

But if you can get a 2nd round pick for your backup QB? You JUUUUUUUUUUUMP on that. Even if it was this week you jump on it.

Big difference between having an experienced backup and someone who hasn't played. The problemwill be keeping Jomnes if he gets any offers to start somewhere. This is why I keep advocating for the NFL allowing teams to exempt the QB salary from the cap so they can pay the backup enough to retain him.

With Jones under contract no one can offer him anything.

I think if he's offered a starting job he can go to the team and ask to be released. Most teams would do that.

Very good video showing where Mac is inferior to Brock.

What is the Mac Jones ceiling in this offense if he's behind a top 5 OL?

Much lower than Brocks

Agree. I'm just wondering if what we saw this past week is as good as he can get.

NOT to say that Air Mac 10 is better than B-Rock Steady Purdy, but everyone must realize that he came from the Patriots ... and they did not have the players that we have..

maybe he'll be a better Air Mac 10 than last year if he gets to play more..

You can't talk to other teams while under contract. Tampering

They might trade him, they won't cut him just because he asks.

They are gonna trade this guy for a 2nd round pick in the offseason aren't they

Why would we do that with Brock as our starter? It would make zero sense.

? To get a 2nd round pick?

Sarcasm cause Brock gets hurt a lot I assume. Someone actually offered a second you don't hesitate. Think people forgetting we drafted Rourke

Idk how you can exempt QB salary, it will turn into a free for all. No QB would be incentivized to stay with their current team and sign long term deals. They can literally demand whatever they want, and you know some rich ass owner would be okay with giving out a 1 billion dollar contract to the top QBs.

Lol

Look at this. One of the board bullies who calls out posters for making comments on "not their guy" making comments on player who wasn't "their guy"

Other teams can't even talk to him. That's tampering. They can ask permission to talk to him and the 49ers can deny it.

It's objectively true. Mac doesn't do a single thing better than Brock.

All I said about Mac is that he played good this week, Which he did. Not trying to contort playing good into pretzels like you are doing with Mykel.

If he plays well 49ers most likely win and he might get a pay day from some other team in the off season in 2 years, hell we might get a comp pick. Its a win win for us, everyone should be rooting for him as a 49ers.

Go Mac Jones!
