Agree, but if a team offers a day one pick, man thats hard to say no to.

Don't see them trading a high enough pick to make it palatable for us.

It'd be a one year rental for a team that is a playoff contender at absolute best.

Harbs has no loyalty to keeping dart who can't stay healthy, he's also a first year HC there and needs the wins.
Mac + picks for Abdul Carter
With this stacked team, folks who want Mac traded for an unguaranteed worth it draft pick, will be crying a river if Brock gets hurt and we waste another Super Bowl opportunity with great a roster.

With all the QB injuries, I think this is more of a reason to hold on to him.
I ain't trading him for no $140, but I'm sure as hell listening to offers!

I agree. There's no telling hiw high any pick they receive would be. The value of a solid backup that knows your system should be obvious after we saw what Jones did when needed last season.

Imo its two things - how do they feel about Rourke? Then does an offer come in that they believe improves the team (run stuffing DT, pass rush etc) If a team is trading us a draft pick, I would imagine a 2nd rounder would be the start.
I wouldn't trade Mac for a pick only -- and suspect teams will try to dangle a 2nd, not a 1st. If a team keeps it's 1st, it can more likely trade back and recover some of the draft capital it gives up for Mac.

But if a team offered a starting DE and a 2nd or 3rd, it would be hard to turn that down imho. 9ers still lack a real threat to pair with Bosa, and getting that would also improve our DL play leaving them with single blocks on the interior. But the DE would have to be more than a 1 year rental.

I know that's a lot of conditions, but that's what it would take imho. It's not a simple trade.

btw, I think when Mac leaves after the season the 9ers are likely to get a 3rd round comp pick. So getting a 2nd now isn't really getting much more while giving up the insurance this year.

You make a good point about his leaving and the Niners getting a compensatory pick. I woud prefer a player but how many teams have a surplus of pass rushers or good interior linemen that they can afford to give up.

Lynch and Shanahan will never forget when we lost Purdy in the NFC championship. We should/could have won that game and the SB if we had a backup quarterback like Mac Jones. Plus, no team will give up their biggest draft assets for a quarterback who most likely will leave anyways when their starting quarterback comes back from injury

Agree.

And possibly where that team will be picking in the draft.

Probably a team that has an outside chance to make the playoffs.

I mean if Brock gets hurt I don't think we win the Super Bowl anyways.

Personally; I'd much rather see what Rourke has if Brock were to get hurt, Mac is gone next year regardless. I'd trade Mac without hesitation and 100% believe that Rourke can do just as good if not better than him

Agreed. All comes down to the offer for Mac.

The comp pick only comes if the 9ers dont sign as many qualifying FAs as they lose. No guarantee they get any comp pick for Mac.

This right here. Roark looked real good in the pre-season.

Like you said, we aren't winning anyways if Brock gets hurt.

If NY wants to trade us DJ Reader or Kayvon Thibodeaux I think we have to at least consider it.
