Listening to Mac this off season the more I like the guy (yeah I know lol). Sucks this will be the last yr he's here and I do think his skill set limits what he can be, but we have a pretty damn good QB room this yr. Arrow up ??

In an ideal world he doesn't play. He's established his value as a starter on a good team, not one rebuilding. The only trade scenario I can see would be a good team's QB going down in midseason and getting desperate, willing to pay the 49ers asking price. He'd be our roster insurance in the beginning of the season and depending how our defense plays I could see the 49ers willing to take that risk. The #3 QB's development would fit in. The team that takes him on would need a good OL otherwise I could see Jones not wanting to move and the 49ers honoring his wishes. Moving up in the 2027 draft for one blue chip player would be a decent long-term help provided the last 2 draft classes improve big. That's one reason our podcasters are working overtime.

I love Mac's attitude, and how he and Brock will push each other to get better. Ultra competitive Brock thrives with a QB like Mac behind him.

Preseason. Kurtis Rourke gets 95% of the snaps. Purdy gets the rest. Jones none as everyone knows what he can do. Give Rourke every opportunity to win the #2 job.
Arizona. Let's say the top college QB's let them know they'll refuse to play for the franchise and the team starts to improve under coach LaFleur. Would a mid-season acquisition be in the works? There are good players on that team and there's no guarantee they'd win in the 2027 draft sweepstakes. They could do what Miami did, a 2 year audition provided the team is ascending. Jones has earned that. What if Pittsburg is winning and Rodgers goes down?
We have Rourke for 4 years as last year doesn't count-injury.
The status of Jones will have a lot to do with Rourke's development in the preseason and injury developments league-wide. SF too.

You may be right. Let's find out. If he is what you say he is then Jones will finish out his contract here.

I could only see that happening if something happens to Purdy, or he just really regresses and Mac Jones is clearly the better option.

it may get interesting IF Rourke passes the test with flying colors and looks sharp
he wouldn't leap Mac but if they feel confident in Rourke it opens the door for Mac getting flipped if a job opens
