And people here was saying he should be traded for a first or multiple seconds. LOL. This is the Jimmy G thread all over again.
There's always a market, but the 49ers aren't desperate to get rid of him and shouldn't let him go for peanuts

You argued the exact opposite in 2022.

I may have argued people's opinionated value/cost, but no way would I say any current player can't get another gig with another team.

Getting another gig and having trade value are not one and the same.
With the Vikings signing Murray, I think that pretty much closes the door on a worthwhile trade return for Mac.

I know people think we could trade him when a QB inevitably gets hurt, but I don't think you'd be getting a worthwhile offer considering it would be a temporary solution for whatever team it is (in all likelihood).

Yeah, I have said this before too, the whole situation is very similar. The only difference is that Jimmy G was more loved here by fans since he played a lot, and the Lance/Jimmy dynamics was bizarre, ie an incumbent QB whos being replaced by a high draft pick, hanging around. While Mac is a clear backup to Purdy.

But its very similar in terms of unrealistic expectations of trade value.

From the team or fans?

Probably both, lol.

I think Market might not be used in the correct context

if Jones was being shopped for a 7th, he would be picked up quickly because there is always a market. Just cause no one wanted to pay with a first or whatever pick they listed his value as to other teams, doesn't mean no one wants him.

Yep.

(There was no market at our asking price).

I understand the argument, but to me this is us robbing ourselves of a true value advantage we've created.
Raiders and Steelers are the only teams left that could feasibly want Mac.

There is no market for him anymore, especially not when Rodgers could come back, and/or teams would be able to get Cousins, Russ, or Wentz.

If they indeed set a 1st round price tag they absolutely did that.

Team more than fans.
