This. Trade the guy who wants to go start somewhere & get a pick or 2. Hell a trade for WR Jordan Addison & a pick from Vikings would be awesome
Mac Jones in 2026 is the best no trade i can think of. Its funny how many people take his performance for granted. Don't grow on trees.

I have really bad patience but at the end of the day, if no one is willing to pay we got the leagues best backup(arguably) and a comp pick coming next year

Don't take for granted high picks for players they are here temporarily also
I'm perfectly comfortable wirh Mac on the team because we know we'll need him and he'll deliver
Fine, let's trade him to the Raiders for Crosby, we will toss in Aiyuk. Mendoza will need to learn for at least a season and Mac would be a good mentor 😂
I'd prefer the team trade Mac for assets that can help us long term vs the short term that he is, but I'm perfectly happy with the team deciding that's either going to be ridiculous compensation or they are keeping him. We don't draft well in the first few rounds as it is anyway.

Comp pick won't hit until 2028
I've always felt that two seconds was right about where we should be compensated so I will wait and see what happens

Getting 2 additional 2nd rounders would be huge for this roster right now.
We're factoring in that if we don't trade him, we'll likely get a 3rd round comp in 2 years and have probably the best backup QB in the league, at a minimal cost.

We're right to demand a 1st or multiple day 2 picks.

Teams can either pay up, or take their chances with rubbish prospects from the draft or sign Kirk Cousins!

We win if he stays and we win if we trade him.

I think we'll wait - always seems there is a QB injury somewhere in training camp.
Benjamin Albright was on the Morning Roast this morning and he basically said there is no market for Mac Jones.

And people here was saying he should be traded for a first or multiple seconds. LOL. This is the Jimmy G thread all over again.

His trade value comes from his NON trade value

He is likely worth a 3rd next year
He is also a reliable and dirt cheap backup

So the value of a trade has to be high enough to offset the loss

2nd round pick was my personal floor in trade value. And as all hagglers know you have to start high before settling.

So hearing the team wants a 1st in trade makes total sense to me. It gives them wiggle room down to a 2

There's always a market, but the 49ers aren't desperate to get rid of him and shouldn't let him go for peanuts
